KXIP in Pune???WTF. AYY IPL and its logic. BTW Star India had got the contract for the next 3 years to show the IPL on the internet. Hoping they keep it free for the rest of the world.
Stupid move to give away the home advantage and any sort of continuity. Last year they played in Cuttack as well:hysterical:

Not to mention KXIP had played in Dharamsala ground (very nice to play there). Teams should be allowed to select their grounds and have that home advantage. I understand BCCI wants to spread the IPL to grease their vote banks. But...this is IMO ridiculous.

This is to reach wider audience. If you keep all the matches at one ground then you are not going to fill the stadium every game.

Or if they had a proper setup and proffesionalism the league should have been expanding to about 15 teams instead of retracting a team or two every year.

Unless they divide the tournament into two groups, it's not possible. Unlike football, cricket depends more on international tournaments than club tournaments. Also another reason I guess they won't bring in new teams is because the bubble has burst. No one is going to spend anywhere close to Rs. 1,702 crore on an IPL team again and that would look bad on the IPL and its image.

No it can easily function if they leave politics and egos out of this. 16 teams plays each other once or twice through the season. Top 8 qualify for finals and straightforward from there. The initial marketing hype of the IPL was never sustainable, you have to start from the bottom and build a core base and following. You can't just rake the money from the broadcasters and expect to do nothing for next 10years. If companies/owners are smart they would buy low and build their brand image and value overtime, only the greedy feckers bought these teams at insane prices to make a quick buck and sell after a few years.

It's not a matter of politics and egos. It's a matter of it being a domestic tournament that's not part of the international calendar. A 16-team tournament would go on for 5-6 months and no board would give up international cricket for that long a period, not even the BCCI themselves.
