India's Test squad for Australia MS Dhoni (capt), Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, M Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Wriddhiman Saha, Naman Ojha*, R Ashwin, Karn Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron I def think this is the best possible squad we could have selected going on form and talent. Has the right mix of youth and experience. Maybbe only change I would make is having Sanju Samson for Naman Ojha as the cover as I feel Samson is our long term future and I find him very exciting prospect personallu Lot of positive attacking intern in our bowling selections and we def have some decisions to make which is a good thing. Ishant has been doing well so I would def select him for the first test and see how he goes. Shami has been spectacular and Yadav was brilliant last tour. Aaaron is aggressive too and Bhuvi could be a good call based on conditions. Spin is an issue but the way the Aussies struuglled with the pak spinners I think they can do well. I honestly belive this is the best squad we coluld have chosen. Id Kohli and Pujara can rack up big scores there are chances of doing well. im predicting a 2-1 loss overall but with lot of positives

harris bigger threat than johnson. he will bowl the nagging line for kohli and purjara outside off and bringing on to offstump.

Just a few more changes would have been better: 1. Drop MSD for Test series, not just "rest" for Test-1. 2. Raina? Cmon, select another guy instead of Raina for squad. Take Raina by all means to Aus to 'acclimatize for WC'. But officially, for squad, take a diff guy, and Raina shud go as acclimatization trip only. 3. Why 3 spinners for Aus? R.Ashwin and Karn Sharma good. What will Sir Jadeja do in Aus!?? Bhuvi and R.Ashwin are better lower-order Test batsmen than Sir. Should have taken another medium-pacer (Ishwar Pandey?) or green rookie pacer (Bumrah or Suyal...) or Rishi Dhawan (better trundle all-rounder than StuPa) instead of Sir. Take Jadeja by all means to Aus to 'acclimatize for WC' - but only for acclimatization and not for Test squad.

Just to remind people, that India have taken 18 members to the squad - so unless there are people who should be in there but are not, we can't really complain.

Overall the team selection is very good.If Rohit does not perform,then he cannot take his place for granted because Raina is in the squad.I think Raina can also be used in place of. Jadeja as batsman who can bowl

I have only one worry about the selection,now players are selected for overseas test series based on IPL performance.I think this is unfair on Ranji perfoemers like Kedhar Jadhav,Rishi Dhawan who are the top batsman & top bowler of last season.

Who? KL Rahul has had his best domestic season, and Ojha has come out of a strong A tour and an FC double hundred. Raina is in the squad based on some good IPL and ODI performances, but he is a regular in the Indian side, and the recent performances in other formats raised his case for a test recall (though I don't agree with it completely) Karn Sharma is the only IPL find, but he has played a fair number of Ranji matches as well... So I don't see a problem

Selectors picked 5 pacers they shud have picked 6 pacers at least. In few tests we may play 4 pacers like in Perth. .If few get hurt then india may have to forcibly play spinners.

I am seriously worried about fitness of our fast bowlers. I bet even playing one spinner wud mean leaking runs. Any genuine bouncy or fast track india shud play 4 genuine pacers and sit bhuvi on bench.

Would be credit to him. People have retired due to Johnson. Tell me one English player who convincingly played the backfoot game against Johnson? Oh with India, everything must be bad. But with them, everything good. The same Johnson was smashed around the park in last IPL by same Raina. Including two pull sixers.
