Dunno why guys are naming Pawar. He has said he wont be contesting http://www.thehindu.com/sport/cricket/not-eager-to-contest-bcci-polls-sharad-pawar/article6937510.ece

ven as the suspense over the upcoming BCCI elections intensifies, former Board president Sharad Pawar on Thursday said that he was not too “eager” to contest for the top job. Mr. Pawar, who headed the Board from 2005-08 and was also the ICC chief, is considered as one of the contenders to take over BCCI’s reins from the faction which is close to president-in-exile N. Srinivasan. As per a recent Supreme Court verdict, Mr. Srinivasan cannot contest the upcoming BCCI elections unless he disassociates himself from his Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings on the ground of conflict of interest. “I have not decided on it. Basically I am not eager (to contest for president’s post),” Pawar, currently Mumbai Cricket Association chief, told reporters here on Thursday.

Calcutta: The possibility of Jagmohan Dalmiya and Anurag Thakur as the next president and secretary, respectively, of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) cannot be ruled out. That combination, indeed, was being talked about rather strongly late on Friday. The AGM is scheduled for 9.30 am on Monday in Chennai. Shivlal Yadav, who has served as interim president, is expected to be in the chair. "Everything is still largely fluid. What's clear is that Narayanswami Srinivasan's group will go to any length to ensure that there's no door open for Sharad Pawar," a well-placed source told The Telegraph. Politician Pawar isn't known to reveal his cards early, but for him to seek a comeback as president of the BCCI, he will first have to be proposed and seconded by affiliates from the East. That looks a stiff order, with one man - Dalmiya - alone controlling two of the six votes: The Cricket Association of Bengal and the National Cricket Club. Like Pawar, Dalmiya is a former president of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the BCCI. Dalmiya's hold over the BCCI ended in 2005, when his candidate for president, Ranbir Singh Mahendra, was unseated by Pawar. Pawar is busy working the phone lines, though, and is "targeting" two affiliates from the East. The Srinivasan group would prefer the present secretary, Sanjay Patel, as its candidate for the president's post, but "compulsions" exist. "There are pulls and pressures at play. Expect clarity by Saturday night," the well-placed source added. Apparently, the BJP (which is in power at the Centre) has conveyed to Srinivasan that it wouldn't support somebody so closely identified with him. Directly/indirectly, the BJP controls around one-third of the votes. That's a significant percentage. But what if the BJP decides not to be so rigid on Patel, a Srinivasan confidant? It's an intriguing state of affairs. As Pawar is regarded as Enemy No. 1, the Srinivasan group would (it is assumed) accept Dalmiya and elevate joint secretary Thakur, a BJP member of the Lok Sabha. That combination will get the backing of key Union minister Arun Jaitley, who has the final say on anything to do with cricket within the BJP. It's not that Srinivasan is himself personally fond of Dalmiya. It's a matter of anybody, but Pawar. Dalmiya is already in Chennai. Of course, if Srinivasan could have had his way entirely, he would have preferred making treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry as the next secretary. After promoting Patel, that is. Srinivasan had opposed Chaudhry's father, Mahendra, but it's a different equation now. The BCCI is a strange world. Rajeev Shukla, a former Union minister, is being viewed as the dark horse. "Should it get very chaotic, then Shukla may gain the most," the well-placed source informed. Shukla is from the Congress, but has friends in the BJP and is also related to a senior member of the ruling party. Meanwhile, even though the Supreme Court has barred Srinivasan from taking part in the proceedings of the AGM, he could still be present throughout as the one nominated to vote on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). Remember, every item on the agenda is put to vote. Srinivasan, by the way, is the TNCA president and chairman of the ICC. Having failed to save his BCCI gaddi, Srinivasan is working overtime to hold on to the ICC's chairmanship. Srinivasan's holding that position as a nominee of the BCCI. That bit is important.

no...pawar is the worst one.. ur hate for srini is making u blind.. how can anyone support this mass murderer... :dontknow:
Pawar is not as bad in cricket as he is in politics. Also, with BJP leaders like Amit Shah, Jailtey etc in the BCCI, he can be controlled. Srini, on the other hand, has become totally shameless and doesn't care one bit for Indian cricket.

Anurag Thakur's name is also coming up as compromise candidate between BJP and Pawar. I thought so earlier also - he is a relative lightweight and can be controlled by Amit Shah etc.
the way BJP bullied their allies , BJP should not bother about compromising anything with pawar. just order him what todo..
