Rohit Sharma needs to go

BS. Rohit averages 27 in away matches , but others are way better and average close to 40s except maybe Dhawan. Rohit just does not have the temperament to play test cricket. He is a bottler and his brainfarts will cost the team dear.
You are again counting the chickens before they hatch. Rohit Sharma should have been drafted in the test team by 2007, yes, when dravid-kumble were indian captains. He should have been in the test team, that did not happen. He was drafted in T-20, ODI, and made him to play, which got him into the habit of playing the shot. His natural game is to leave the balls outside the off stump, he alwyas have the temprament of test cricket, but due to more ODI,T20 mode, he has lost the basics. He has to curb his shot playing habit, which happened because he was made to play more T-20, ODI. He must learn from murali vijay, who also lost his way, but corrected himself,if his priority is test cricket. Not to forget the position where he bats, no.6, means, by the time he walks in, almost all of India best bats are in pavaillion, and after dhoni, tails get exposed. These things matter in test cricket. Even ishant sharma lost his way, but now, he has learned from the mistakes. Same logic must be applied to kohli, who failed miserably in the england series, 5 tests or 10 innings are sufficient to judge a batsman, that's how the threads here are made. Also, not to forget, all professionals have some priorities, applies to everyone, may be, rohit's priority is not test cricket, he like T-20 more, that will not make a villiain out him. But making threads that he is garbade, useless etc is totally uncalled for. No batsman, even on Flat track, cannot make double centuries, if they don't have technique. Because hitting proper cricketing shots needs technique, not swashbukcling, otherwise, double century would have been scored by people such as afridi, yusuf pathan, trescothick, who were complete swashbucklers.

Aid test for Rohit tmrw. If he scores a biggie he deserves a chance in MCG else will be shown the door I guess. And not difficult to pull it off considering a few of the Aus bowlers aren't 100% fit and our good position. Day 2 is also the best day to bat at Gabba.
Rohit Sharma won't get dropped now, whatever agarkar says, who himself holds a record of most number of duck outs. In england, they made him to sit for an experiment, that's it. Rohit sharma did not get chance in 2011-12 oz series also, and kohli came good, finally, in the last two tests. kohli was even drafted in the windies test series , in 2011, failed miserably there, 30 being highest. kohli's one test century is useless, second test against nz, which was almost a dead rubber, and it was clear that he was playing for his century. At adelaide, he got out to mitchell johnson shot pitch bowling, so again, a serious flaw is there in his technique. raina as replacement? Raina does not have capacity to be a test player.

Obviously you are mixing apples and oranges here. Sharma scoring 2 double tons in LOI's has nothing to do with overseas test cricket. He is a FTB and a fantastic one at that. Probably greatest FTB India produced after Sehwag and that speaks a lot about him. But lets face it he clearly struggles when there is bit of seam and swing. I was expecting him to be successful in Australia atleast because he got a good pull shot but what I saw in 1st test dissapointed me.
FTB cannot make 200, be in any format, and that too with ease. sehwag and FTB, trent bridge, bloemfentain, they were swinging pitches. even in 2006 RSA tour, sehwag used to score runs, but his position was no.6, due to greg chappel's policy of shifting players.

Ofcourse Sehwag as not as big a FTB as Nohit. Nohit is ISO certified CMM 5 Level FTB who can put the like of Shahid Afridi to shame...

I was a fan of Rohit Sharma but he honestly has only himself to blame. If he is serious about a Test return then he needs to play a season of county cricket and score some big runs overseas in domestic cricket. I wouldn't shut the door on him forever, but he needs to show that he can score runs overseas. I doubt he cares enough to do that though.

+1. A most frustrating player to support.
