rkt.india Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Shami is quick too. No. He mostly bowls 135-140.
express bowling Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Shami is quick too. I am not talking about pace. Shami is not troubling batsmen in the last 3 test series he has played. Whereas Aaron looks dangerous whenever he lands the ball in proper areas.
MK55 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 No. He mostly bowls 135-140. In fact even Yadav bowls at 137-140k and only bowls briefly at 144-146k in one of his spells. bowls. He certainly has the capacity to bowl at 145k though which I think he should do.
rkt.india Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Aaron is a " confidence" bowler. I get the feeling that his control will improve if he knows he will play a full series. Now he is trying too hard ...trying to take a wicket every ball.... in an attempt to cement his place in the side. . He does seem to be trying too hard. It is bound to happen when you see opportunities going down on your bowling. You start trying too hard to take wickets which results in things getting worse. It can happen to anyone, especially, younger and inexperienced guys are more prone to it. These guys need to learn quickly.
express bowling Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 No. He mostly bowls 135-140. Shami has bowled entire spells at 138 to 145 k....in the last test as well as in recent international matches. His main problem in recent tests has been a certain lack of intensity and a boundary ball almost every over.

He certainly has the capacity to bowl at 145k though which I think he should do. In first innings, Yadav was marginally quicker on average than Aaron and Johnson. In fact, you don't need to bowl quick all the time like Aaron does. It will tire you out and that fatigue leads to loss of control. The best modern fast bowler Steyn never does that. He does crank it up when needed; otherwise, concentrates mostly on movement and hitting right areas.
ThePhenomenal1 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 aaron is a key bowler for us, get bhuvi for ishant who leaked all those runs in his first few overs. give chances to new bowlers now

His main problem in recent tests has been a certain lack of intensity and a boundary ball almost every over. Not recently in tests, since England he has been mainly around 135-138, sometimes above. His average pace in Adelaide was around 83-84 mph, around 135. He does not have the stamina to sustain pace.

He certainly has the capacity to bowl at 145k though which I think he should do. Yadav bowled his first spell at 140 to 148 k. Many 144 + deliveries. After that he settled down to 135 to 143 k mostly...without any significant improvement in control. I feel that ,in tests, Umesh's optimum pace range is 138 k to 145 k and he should go for that.

Aaron is the quickest of the lot the way he maintains pace even in last spell i have not seen even yadav do.Shami is quick in his first 2 spells and as most bowlers slows down.the problem with shami is he has also sprayed it.none of them have displayed control. Except for morning session yesterday when we bowled outside offstump to a plan just makes u think why change tobowling short after plan worked. What i am looking for is improvement as test series progresses ,if they learn something unlike ishant it will be for the better.

His average pace in Adelaide was around 83-84 mph, around 135. He does not have the stamina to sustain pace.[/quote'] His average pace drops because he invariably sends down a 130 to 138 k type spell after 70 / 80 overs are bowled. He desperately needs to improve his stamina. Also, India's inability to bowl out oppositions quickly , even on pace friendly tracks, contributes to this. We typically end up giving 450 to 500 + runs in an innings and the number of overs bowled by pacers just become too much. If you have noticed .... even Harris was bowling 130 to 138 k in later spells. Siddle bowled a 125 to 135 k type spell when tired. Steyn yesterday bowled a 130 to 138 k spell mostly. Unless our bowling unit as a whole can wrap up some innings within 250 or 300...the average speeds will come down. That being said ...Shami's stamina is not up to the mark at all. Needs major improvement.

Yeah I agree. Its not that the extra pace is causing him lose control or that he gains more control by bowling at slower speeds. It could either be a fitness/stamina issue or mindset. In either case, he can improve upon that aspect.

Yeah.... we have to see whether Aaron is willing to learn from his mistakes or is bull headed in his approach. He is just 5 tests old. Just a rookie.
express bowling Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 I have no problem with low pace. 135 is not bad by any means' date=' but you have to have accuracy if you are bowling at that pace.[/quote'] Exactly. 135 k is decent pace in later spells if the bowler is accurate. We need at least one pacer who is super accurate at 135 to 142 k.
express bowling Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Our problem has been ....we either have 120 to 130 k pacers who are accurate or 135 to 150 k pacers who are wayward. We desperately need pacers who are accurate + decent to good pace. Most good bowling units have atleast 2 such bowlers.
sachin34357 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 wheres that vishalvirsingh who always makes thread before test series about phaasssst ballers:giggle: hes dream combo of yadav, aaron and ishant
kosingh Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Aaron needs to add something to his raw pace. Something- accuracy, or swing etc
rkt.india Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Aaron needs to add something to his raw pace. Something- accuracy' date=' or swing etc[/quote'] He did swung the ball in England, but everything is useless if you are not consistent and fielders dont take their catches. Drop catches isnt his fault. Should have had 5-6, ended up with 2. Doesn't help confidence of an inexperienced bowler.
Lord Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Whats with excuse of drop catches?Pankaj had similar luck in England, yet he was labelled as poor trundler coz of his speed? Aaron's problem isnt lack of wickets. Its that hes going at ER you expect in T20,not even ODI.When batsmen are thrashing you consistently, they are gonna mistime sometime anyway. Its not like they couldnt play him
