But that would mean giving outside support to the PDP maybe in return for the pdp voting for bjp candidates in the rajya sabha. However it will be a betrayal of the voter in Jammu. so their base might be eroded.
G_B_ Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Disappointed by the trends in Kashmir - BJP not leading in even a single seat and vote share increase is also quite small. more than kashmir for me Ladakh is where i am disappointed the most. 3 for the INC and 1 independent. BJP should have got 2 from this region. 25/37 in Jammu is a very good showing. Keep in mind the BJP won the lok sabha seat. In retrospect the BJP would have been better concentrating on the 41 seats in jammu and ladakh. Would have won IMO close to 30-32 seats. But i am glad the BJP took the gamble in Kashmir. It has not paid off but atleast you know where you stand. Maybe they need to run a low key campaign in Kashmir next time around. Maybe more than mission 44 the mission should be to emerge as the largest party in the state. Which i feel should be around the 30 mark. Long term the BJP will hope that Sajjid Lone can become a force in Kashmir region and gain about 10-15 seats on a regular basis.
G_B_ Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 and i am very happy with the BJP performance in Jharkhand. To be fair twitter folk has predicted this result even during the elections. It was obvious that the BJP was going to form government and a stable 5 year government at that. The JMM has held its ground in the state which is quite impressive. However it does not bode well for the congress-jd(u)-rjd combine. There was so much infighting especially between the Jd(u) and the Congress. Poses big question marks for Bihar. Long term i think Marandi will merge his party with the BJP. JMM's Shibu Soren will be 75 come next elections. His health is not the best as things stand. But Hemant soren has been good based on this election campaign. Considering Arjun Munda has lost Das of the BJP who is an OBC will become next CM IMO

Good showing by BJP in J and K. BJP needs to win as many seats in states so that by 2016 it can get a majority in RS as well and then for 3 years Modi will have the power to run the country and make changes according his vision.That will be the make and break 3 years for Modi.

Even some natural NC voters voted tactically. The muftis will weight their options. On the plus side the BJP will never realistically win a seat in Kashmir. So they will never be a threat on the PDP's core turf. Plus as they are in power at the centre maybe the BJP will give the PDP a ministry. Plus it will be an extremely stable government in terms of numbers. On the negative, Omar Abdullah and co will paint the PDP as a communal party for aligning with the BJP. It might cost the PDP big in the next elections. Ideologically the PDP and the BJP are not the best fit either.

The good news in that is that they have retained their core turf. Bad news is that they seem ineffective outside this. Which means they become range bound. The BJP are just too dominant in urban areas. The BJP on the other hand is 1/2 in most of the seats they have contested. If the BJP elect a non tribal CM and provide good governance for all then IMO the tribals wont fear losing their rights and voting for the JMM
G_B_ Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 bjp have been crushed in kashmir valley i looked at the election results constituency wise and in most places they are 4th. Supposed star campaigner Hina Bhat got 1300 votes. Like it or not only the congress and national conference have the ability to get 44 seats in kashmir. PDP is range bound in Kashmir while the BJP appears to be range bound in Jammu. Both the Congress and the NC have a spread vote across the regions. The lesson for the BJP in this election is forget Kashmir and concentrate on Jammu and Ladakh especially with 41 seats. The BJP won all its 25 seats with a comfortable margin and is second in about 6 more seats. Thats 31 seats in total. Add another 2 seats from the Ladakh region and probably 33 seats where the BJP put up a good show.
