AmreekanDesi Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Was he just at the right place at the right time? Would the results have been any different had he been there for the prev 3 years?
kosingh Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Maybe you have to give credit to Gary for helping guys like Zaheer and Gambhir play really good cricket. But then again, Gary was lucky to have a number of players who were both highly skilled as well as experienced.

Lord Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Our collective performances nosedived immediately after he left and fatso joined.Cant be just a coincidence
Vijy Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Our collective performances nosedived immediately after he left and fatso joined.Cant be just a coincidence Our dip in performance almost exactly coincides with Sir Goddy's search for that 100th 100. Coincidence? :giggle:
rkt.india Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Our collective performances nosedived immediately after he left and fatso joined.Cant be just a coincidence No, they didnt. We had done well in WI after he had gone. Performances had to fall because of aging seniors and no real transition planning done by him. He was lucky to have good players in good form. It was his tenure when we had to plan transition which never happened. We didn't have batsmen or bowlers ready to make impact.

Yes, they had to... but not many predicted a 4-0 drubbing on the level that we witnessed in Eng and Oz. Some of it was due to natural decline, but I believe that factors of captaincy, coaching, etc also made a crucial difference.

CG Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 These things are far more overrated. Yup after wc 2011 motivation was gone and so were seniors.
rkt.india Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Yup after wc 2011 motivation was gone and so were seniors. Likes of SRT, Dravid, Laxman, Viru, GG, Zak didnt need coaching at that point of their career.
