Vijy Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Samson another prospect but not having the best season. Samson and Chand are just flashy players. Plenty of good domestic solid stalwarts who are very capable waiting to be taken.
Vijy Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Currently, we have 4 slots open (assuming a 7-4 combo): 1) Opener: KLR deserves more chances, but in the 'A' tours, Akshath Reddy might deserve a chance or two. Only opener in FC avg over 50 currently. Jiwanjot has regressed unfortunately. 2) No.3: Chepu should get it back. However, Vihari should be sent on 'A' tours in that position. 3) No.6: This is genuinely open. Would like to see Bawne here - Chanders-style player. Others include Jadhav, Tiwary, etc. 4) No.7: The keeper. Saha did not have a good Oz tour, but IMO deserves 1 more test series. Ojha's keeping is quite poor - I've seen him play, and it's much worse than Saha (who did fluff some chances). If we are to go with a 5 bowler attack, all-rounders such as Rassool, Rishi Dhawan, etc should be played more in 'A' tours.
bowl_out Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 ^^ I'd play Rohit for a few more matches at 3, and Pujara at 6

BeautifulGame Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 This series should be the end of both Rohit and Raina in test team. Saha deserves 1-2 home series .But don't he is the long term solution. Need to groom a WK bat who can bat comfortably at 6 As for the no.6 position we also need to decide whether to go with a batsman or WK or AR Personally would play Saha at 6 Jadeja @7 and Ashwin @8 in the home series

Hence, a young batsman must be groomed for the future by playing him at 6. For away tours, it would be nice to have a proper keeper-batsman or AR.

We have Ashwin and Jadeja who are proper all rounders in our conditions we have to utilize them.

Although that is a fair point, on Indian pitches, we are more likely to take 20 wickets than on pitches abroad. Hence, I would like to see some future batsmen/AR/keeper being groomed.

Also its time we look to play 5 bowlers home and overseas .No need for a sixth bat anywhere
R.D forever Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Golden period for domestic players. One good season and u are in the test team. Feeling bad for players like Badri and mithun manhas who scored runs season after season with no place in Indian team

Feeling bad for players like Badri and mithun manhas who scored runs season after season with no place in Indian team Badri got 2 Tests, and a few ODIs. There are players like Tiwary and Jadhav that haven't got even that much.
