DesiChap
Bengal see Yuvraj threat A STAFF REPORTERCalcutta: Yuvraj Singh, who failed to find a place in the Indian Test team during the ongoing series against Pakistan, was released on Friday to play Ranji Trophy for Punjab, BCCI sources said. Now Yuvraj will be seen in action against Bengal in Siliguri in their four-day Group B Super League match beginning Saturday. With Punjab side boosted by Yuvraj’s addition, Bengal will be under pressure to do well after losing to Baroda in their last match. Bengal are expected to play three seamers — Ranadeb Bose, Shib Shankar Paul and Ashok Dinda — against Yuvraj Singh and Co. The home team is likely to bring in another change with Priyankar Mukherjee replacing out-of-form off-spinner Sourashish Lahiri. It’s going to be a tough time for Bengal captain Laxmi Ratan Shukla, who has been passing through a lean patch having just managed one run with two noughts from three innings. http://www.telegraphindia.com/1071201/asp/sports/story_8614381.asp Link to comment

zubinpepsi
Yuvraj misses Ranji match Harish Kotian in Kolkata December 01, 2007 13:22 IST Yuvraj Singh [Images] failed to make it for Punjab's Ranji Trophy match against Bengal on Saturday after being laid low with a stomach ailment. The left-hander was rushed to play the match in Siliguri after being left out of the team for the second Test against Pakistan at the Eden Gardens. But, as luck would have it, he was forced to sit out of the Super League match too due to indigestion. Yuvraj, who was not included in the team for the first Test in Delhi too, was originally named 12th man for ongoing Test, but since was keen to play in the Ranji match omitted from the 12 at the last minute. Murali Kartik [Images] took his place. -------------------- very good excuse Mr.Prince has got here...:haha: Link to comment
fineleg
very good excuse Mr.Prince has got here...:haha: Dunno if this was a real indigestion or not! However, what must happen is YS must be told that he HAS to play in domestic 4-day tournaments and score very well in those. Whether he skips this match or not is immaterial. But he HAS to do that, before he will be in Test 11. If he is told that, I think he will take it seriously. Link to comment
living
fake man ... what a loser. Saying that "oohh I want to play test matches for India" is not enough, you gotta show the passion and drive, not just keep saying it out loud and giving interviews to pressurize the selectors. As far as I'm concerned, unless he plays long knocks for Punjab he doesn't deserve to replace wither RD/SRT/SG/LAX. Too bad chump, shouldn't have eaten whatever crap you did before the game .... living
Actually I might even pick Badrinath over Yuvi. Playing awesome ODI cricket on mainly flat pitches doesn't equal test selection. Link to comment
beetle
Yuvi to join the team for the third test....... He seems to get better when he is around the team:D Link to comment
Kartikey
wasnt it himself to asked to play in the ranji?? so u guys should stop criticising him. Link to comment
living
wasnt it himself to asked to play in the ranji?? I don't think so ... Link to comment
beetle
"They release him" does not translate to "he asked them to be released" Besides...a guy is so unfit that he has to go to the hospital...but is fine the moment he reaches the team hotel. Don't be surprised if people doubt him because he has managed to bunk domestic duties for his state for the last 4 years...inspite of not being a regular in the national team. Even members who have been regulars have gone home to do whatever domestic matches they could. What is the excuse for mr.irregular to skip domestic duties for so long? Link to comment

The Outsider
if yuvi can open' date=' he can def. replace karthick[/quote'] No he can't. On current form the spot would go to Gambhir/Chopra and if you want someone with proven credentials then Sehwag. Link to comment
