Where did you get the 124B figure? Apple's market capitalization at current stock price is 740 billion $ See: http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=AAPL (Note: Stock price fluctuates and with it, the market cap. So, don't quote this post months later and ask how I came up with the figure)

Direct comparison is misleading. Apple's revenue is approximately 220 billion and India's gdp is 2.1 trillion. Also much of India's gdp is unaccounted Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Apple is a brand known to almost every individual around the world. Forbes has ranked the Cupertino tech giant as the world's most valuable brand with a brand value of $124.2 billion, which is more than double that of Google. The top 10 list of world's most valuable brands is dominated by tech giants by and large, with companies like Microsoft, Google and IBM ranked among the top 5 brands. Apple's brand value is nearly twice as much as Microsoft, which ranked second on the list with $63 billion. Google secured a third rank on the Forbes' list with a brand value of $56.6 billion, followed by popular beverages company Coca-Cola at $56.1 billion net worth. Forbes' annual ranking of the most valuable brands rounded off the top 5 brands with IBM at $47.9 billion.

That article is just talking about the brand value. A company is worth much more than just its brand value. What that article explains is that for instance if Tim Cook and the Apple board decide to sell the "Apple" brand alone for whatever reason, they could get $124 billion for it. Apple has $178 billion in cash alone (yes, hard cash) which is much more than any other company in the world. The true current value of a company can be judged by its market capitalization (which is Number of shares outstanding X Price of each share). And no, I am not a fanboy please. Just stating facts.
