Not counting the minnow vs minnow matches (most of which have been interesting) you have NZ-Scotland, WI-Ireland, Afghanistan-SL. THOSE 4 are probably the only good matches this WC has delivered. Maybe then exit WC should be 8 teams, but minnows only.

Big big difference going out thinking " we should aim for 7.5 an over" and " we need to hit 7.5 an over". That and in day-night games the ball starts nipping around making it much harder to score than first looked. Dunno why people are, yet again, blaming the Associates for this one. SA vs Ind was a snoozefest, Pak vs Ind a snoozefest, Aus vs England, Eng vs NZ, WI vs SA, etc. all really boring games that involved team A batting and putting up a massive score and team B failing to get near it. Only decent games so far IMO are WI vs Ire, Afg vs SL, UAE vs Zim, Zim vs SA, Pak vs Zim, NZ vs Aus. UAE vs Ire and Scot vs Afg were excellent too. Rest have been boring with runs galore

India, Aus and NZ have not been required to chase tall scores yet. Saffers are known to struggle batting second. SL chased 300 easily against England. Other teams are not good enough to chase 300+.

Only Ireland v WI and SL v England have been games where the chasing sides have not panicked. That's true and that's what I worry about our side. We have not chased a good total yet. Hope to see that against Windies.

Marut Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 they cant do that even batting first with old rules Aus getting 434 and SA chasing it were with old rules. 400 has always been a possibility since the 2000s, batsmen weren't going for it because they thought it was too difficult. Now batsmen know this is not an impossible score so they go for it. 500 looks impregnable right now, but once there is a first time, there will be many more.

That is why the guys play nine innings and yet manage 5 runs per game. Baseballers also play with a round bat which is narrower than a cricket bat and their home runs are much longer than a cricket run. Cricket is becoming lesser and lesser like baseball if the recent scores are anything to go by. Baseball is very much geared towards the pitcher, and not the batter.

Its embarassing enough that Scotland and Ireland are putting up 300 but how these weak teams are getting chased down is comical. This is without a doubt the worst world cup. Even worse than 2007 where India and Pak were rightfully booted. I had without a shadow of a doubt that Sri would chase down the 300 and Bangladesh should easily run it down here. Only exciting match so far is NZ Aus and they barely got 300 combined.

Good bowling attacks won't concede 300+. Starc bowling in the last 10 is a lot harder than some hack from a minnow bowling pies!:hysterical:
