They described how he led Pakistani troops to the village and helped the soldiers line up and execute the farmers. - Kamaruzzaman was found guilty on five out of seven charges of crimes against humanity, including the murder and torture of unarmed civilians. - Kamaruzzaman was the third most senior figure in Jamaat-e-Islami (assistant secretary-general :omg:), an Islamist opposition party. - He is the second war crimes suspect in Bangladesh to be executed. In December 2013 Abdul Kader Mullah, assistant secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami since 2010 and a former editor of an Islamist newspaper, was hanged after being found guilty on five of six counts of crimes against humanity and war crimes. - Of the others who have been convicted: 1. Former Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ghulam Azam died in custody in 2014 2. Former Bangladesh Nationalist Party MP and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Motiur Rahman Nizami is awaiting the death sentence after being convicted in October 2014 3.Former Jamaat-e-Islami MP Delwar Hossain Sayeedi has been sentenced to life in jail (why wasn't this bastard sentenced to death, the worst of the lot :(() 4. Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary-General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid was condemned to death in July 2013 5. Most Bangladeshis are actually secular compared to Muslims in other countries, but their voices are being drowned by the increasingly confident and violent radicals amidst them. Hope they can override this menace and become at least close to the 1st secular Muslim majority country in the planet. Crimes committed by these were beyond humanity and they had no right to live. I had thought Bengladeshi govt would succumb to pressure from radicals but kudos to have gone ahead and carry out executions.

CSK Fan Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I hope this is a step towards Bangla getting less radicalized. It boggles my mind that a party which sided with their enemy during the 71 war and helped kill so many of their own citizens has so much support in the same country.
