He specializes in selfish batting that makes him look good while losing games for the team. Batting so slowly and taking so much time to get set that the rest can never score big, or are under huge scoreboard pressure. Two big innings, one of which was just OK. A bunch of failures, and a few match-losing 20s, 30s and 40s that were super-slow and cost his side, but put him near orange cap leaderboard. Please save Indian cricket from Shreyas Iyer. He averages 50+ at a strike rate of 75+ in FC. And you call that selfish batting. His strike rates in the IPL (130) aren't of the match losing kind, especially for an opener.

So go by potential not numbers. Remember Ranji is the same league in which this season Vinay Kumar finished highest wicket taker at a sub 20 average....says alot about the standard! That said you can tell a good player when you see one, you can see class when you see Lokesh Rahul. How do people see Iyer?

maniac Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Iyer the only standout based on this edition...jury still out on Sarfaraz,Pandya,Hooda,Negi etc. Samson and Sandeep Sharma have earned it with their consistent performances.....definitely next in line
