How did the sub inspector die if it really was just a transformer blast? Feel sad for the brave guy' date=' this cover up is just denying his gallantry in the face of an attempted attack on innocent people.[/quote'] tbf transformers can do some real damage a transformer blowing up and if you are within 100 yards you will most likely be struck with fatal injures. though i personally think its a cover up

RIP the brave SI :(( Zim should immediately pull out of the tour. There is no need to take any risk whatsoever. Maybe even ICC should intervene and threaten that last ODI will be deemed unofficial ( they provided official status so far and even appointed a remote referee so they will also be blamed if God forbid, anything untoward happens ).

Geo TV confirms it as well Sub-inspector killed, six others injured in suicide blast outside Gaddafi Stadium Source: http://www.geo.tv/article-186383-Two-policemen-wounded-in-minor-blasts-outside-Lahores-Gaddafi-Stadium Sensible move to reveal the actual story afterwards. Otherwise it could have been even more dangerous considering the large crowd.
Sensible decision yes but then they went onto continue with the game instead of swiftly evacuating players and crowd. Which I might add poses a question as to whether their intention was to avoid panic or avoid bad-press about international cricket in Pakistan...

i dont think they have a clue seems like its an iinformation blackout for them
Its all over twitter.. don't think they don't know. Probably PCB strong-arming ZC into forcing their players to continue....

IMO the third game should not continue in these circumstances. I feel it was the right call to not tell the crowd, who would have panicked. The venue is known and the time is known. It is a big risk.

Zimbabwe to decide on tour after suicide attack
Explained as an electricity transformer blast initially by police, the explosion near Gaddafi Stadium during the second ODI between Pakistan and Zimbabwe has now been described as a suicide attack. A sub-inspector was killed and several people injured in the incident. Although the PCB has said that the remaining match on Sunday will go ahead as planned, the Zimbabwe team management and players will have a meeting with host board officials and security authorities this afternoon to determine the fate of the tour. "We heard a blast during the match yesterday. We do not know what it was," a Zimbabwe team spokesman said. "We have held a team meeting to inform everyone that our hosts are coming this afternoon to talk to us about the incident." "The incident happened away from the main premises and nothing is affected," a PCB spokesman told ESPNcricinfo. "The tour will go ahead as planned and the Zimbabwe team will continue with their usual activities today, though they are not training today. They will play the third match on Sunday and subsequently will fly back in the wee hours of Monday." Initially, the players were told on the way from the stadium to the hotel after the match that it was a low-intensity transformer blast near Gaddafi Stadium. Ameen Vais, the Capital City Police Officer, had also earlier informed that it was a minor transformer blast, in a bid to avoid any panic. The incident took place near the outermost ring of the three-tier security of Nishtar Park complex at Ferozpur road, near FIFA house, about 800 metres from the Gaddafi Stadium, and was audible to those in the ground and even inside the enclosed press box. It is understood that the attacker was standing beside the first checkpost installed at Ferozpur road for the general public coming to Gaddafi Stadium. The match remained unaffected after the blast while the paramilitary forces guarding the first layer cordoned off the area. Within 30 minutes, the entire area in the radius of 2 km was locked down and closed for general traffic.
Hope better sense prevails and Zim call off the tour NOW

I guess you could have bet upon someone trying to disrupt this series ... well done to the PCB and security forces for keeping the players, officials and fans safe .., and most sincere condolences to the man who lost his life protecting them.

TBH the ZIM govt has already issued a statement saying they will.be questioning the ZCA for going ahead with the tour despite objections. Its a no brainer that ZCA went ahead because they got money from PCB and in return they also forced and threatened the players. I also have a very dim view of Dave Whatmore in this matter.

Cricket is not worth the life of a few police officers. They are heroes in my opinion. But it can be said that the PCB did what it promised and the terrorists couldn't even get to within 800m of the Zimbabwe players.

Lol! What a rubbish post. A blast just occurred few blocks away from the stadium and he comes up with this. Keep holding the 'Are you watching, India' banners.

Pathetic excuse and rubbish post that suicide bombers could not come nearer....:banghead: if these are the standards...then not even God can save them. I really feel for Zim players - they will now feel guilty for the death of the SI...had they not come to the dangerous city, no attack would have happened and the SI would still be alive ... PCB in a way has blood on its hands...

It will take some time to completely get rid of the terrorists, that would take years. And it would be great if you weren't filled with hate from the inside. Apparently 1 Pakistani banner = all Pakistanis. #KaliaLogic
