Temujin Khaghan Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 on one hand we have movies like hostel, saw, texas chainsaw, wolfcreek on the other hand Poltergiest, Exorcist, Conjuring, Insidious which scare you more? --- for me gore is disgusting and not really scary. i love spooked movies... its a real art to scare people with illusionary creatures rather than buther someone's toes and fingers off 2 inches from a camera to get the necessary shock from the audience... what say?
Cricketics Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I like movie like Turistas which I just watched the other dya. It is termed as Horror movie even though there is no ghost in it. It's just bit of suspense and the tragic moments which tourist face after getting enticed by little things on their vacation. Horro movies are too fictional for me to enjoy.

Temujin Khaghan Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Horro movies are too fictional for me to enjoy. do you derive your "scared" pleasure from movies where characters end up in bad situations? a guy ran out of the theatre in London (atleast in India, people are cheap enuf to make full use of the ticket :D) when we saw "The Descent" because he was claustrophobic... no ghosts only cave men and very dark, narrow and tight cave passages...

moniker Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Don't think anyone watches gore/slasher to get scared. They shouldn't be categorized as horror IMO. They are watched for morbid pleasure and to get a kick out of repulsive scenes.

I totally agree, Hostel is THE worst film I have ever seen. I am much more scared by Sinister, Paranormal 1 and 2, Insidious, Conjuring.. than I am by Saw(s),Hostel, or even Wolf Creek (though that was scary). A gory film can be effective if done well. Often they are B grade almost porn

I heard those stories when Evil Dead came out. I think you would probably be aware of those those stories. :) But seriously man, some of the horror movies are more gross then horror these days. Kidneys coming out of the body or someone trying to poke something in the someone's eye, is just gross to watch.
