India-KXIP fan Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Shouldn't AB de villiers be in the list? He isn't mentioned yet. Maybe he is the 10th guy? :hmmm: Actually yeah he is > Akram in 21st. Seeing as some other greats who only played a few years in the century are lower down it could well be AB.
zep1706 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Shouldn't AB de villiers be in the list? He isn't mentioned yet. Maybe he is the 10th guy? :hmmm: Surely deserves a place in top 100. Interesting. It surely has to be him then. But Akram's omission is surprising when other such players have found a place.
sscomp32 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Interesting. It surely has to be him then. But Akram's omission is surprising when other such players have found a place. Maybe he hasn't done enough in the 3 years period he played?
zep1706 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Maybe he hasn't done enough in the 3 years period he played? OK I checked Akram's stats from Jan 1 2000. He only played 13 tests after that and averaged 30 with the bowl. So his omission is not that surprising after all.
Raghav_12 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Yeah.abdv wud be 10 th guy..he has to be in the list of 100 so if be is not in 90 he has to be in 10..
Gollum Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 KP at 24 is surprising. In my books he is a sure shot top 10 player of the 21st century purely on the basis of a few of his game changing knocks. Sachin will be probably be in the 8-10 position. Him and Lara were the clear best of the toughest era of batting in the history of cricket(90s).
Raghav_12 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Sanga in top 10 seems to be a too much.. KP at 24 and Sanga in top 10 doesn't seem right.
Gollum Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Sanga in top 10 seems to be a too much.. KP at 24 and Sanga in top 10 doesn't seem right. IMO Sanga and KP both should be in top 10. Sanga made his debut after 2000 and his stats are beastly. Sanga along with Kallis has been the best batsman of the 21st century while KP has played the most number of game changing ATG knocks.
Scarves Posted June 21, 2015 Author Posted June 21, 2015 Nah KP is fine where he is at. I mean he doesn't bowl and isn't as great as the batsmen in the Top 10 I mean you'll have Murali (Bowler), Warne (Bowler), Steyn (Bowler), McGrath (Bowler) Kallis (Allrounder) Ponting, Sanga, Tendulkar & de Villiers It seems very fair.
Scarves Posted June 22, 2015 Author Posted June 22, 2015 10. AB de Villiers 9. Glenn McGrath 8. Shane Warne 7. Dale Steyn 6. Ricky Ponting 5. Sachin Tendulkar 4. Muthiah Muralidaran 3. Kumar Sangakkara 2. Jacques Kallis 1. Adam Gilchrist Huh who would have saw that coming
sscomp32 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 WOW. Gilly at 1. :omg: No one saw that coming. :haha:
Raghav_12 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 lol.. no 4,5,6 would any day will be counted better than on 1,2 and 3. I am big fan if Gilly but noway he should be rated ahead of Ponting from his own team.
brendan07 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Murali at 4 is way over board too for the period, but the top 10 is very fair.
Jersey #10 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Lol Sachin at #5. This crap is BS and rigged. He is #1 of all time not only 21st century.
Raghav_12 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Lol Sachin at #5. This crap is BS and rigged. He is #1 of all time not only 21st century. + 1.
Scarves Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 lol.. no 4' date='5,6 would any day will be counted better than on 1,2 and 3. I am big fan if Gilly but noway he should be rated ahead of Ponting from his own team.[/quote'] I think it's more than stats. Gilchrist changed the ODI game in how openers should attack (even though Greatbatch, Botham and Sri Lanka were earlier) & the role of a wicketkeeper. Gone are the days that a keeper is just used for keeping. They have to be a good bat.
Gambit Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 ^^ Gilchrist changed a lot of things but certainly did not change anything with regard to how an opening bat bats in ODI cricket.
BlueBee Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Lol! I was expecting someone like Ponting or maybe ABDV TBH, didn't see that coming.
