These awards does not deserve MSV. they gave a posthumus Bharath Ratna to MGR, mainly because his party at that time was more of a supporter to Congress. but when Nehru met the Egyptian counterpart, the latter praised Sivaji Ganesan to peaks. His Veerapandiya Kattabomman was screened at the international film festival there. But Nehru doesn't even know who the hell Sivaji is... The politically neutral Sivaji was given a DadaSahebPhalke very late after retirement. he was very disappointed with the late award. This is the hypocrisy of national awards. They are mostly vote oriented.

Then just before the launch of DMK he moved to Congress .Was even Rajya Sabha member under Indra Gandhi government .He even launched his own political party and contested assembly elections in 1989 in alliance with ADMK (janaki) .He himself lost and merged with Janada Dal Hardly politically neutral
