Debutant Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Indian-Paki' date=' Southie-Northie.....you can see, human mind always creates divisions,so just destroying religions won't solve the problem.[/quote'] India - Pakistan was divided because of religion. So much of bloodshed to create a country based on religion. So yes, religion is evil. I have never seen riots happening between North and South Indians. What are you talking about ??
Tiger80 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 The greatest danger to mankind in this century in terrorism and it definitely is influenced by religion. Communism killed much more than any religion in just 100 years nazism killed millions inn just 2 decades none of them was influenced by religion
rageaddict Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 What about the Tamila Sinhala Civil War in Sri Lanka ? What about the 1971 war in Bangladesh ?

Rwandan Genocide https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rwandan_Genocide 1 million tutsi people were killed nothing to do with religion
someone Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 India - Pakistan was divided because of religion. So much of bloodshed to create a country based on religion. So yes' date=' religion is evil.[/quote'] Your rational is very wrong. Just because one religion is a problem, does not mean religion itself is evil. Religion is basically just a big group of people together under one name. And there are so many groups in the world so you cannot just ban all groups. The problem starts when one group start to believe they are "superior" than others, and these rest should be finished off. Such intolerant ideas are not compatible with modern world and should be dealt in the strongest ways possible. So let's address the root issue rather than the category itself.
Precambrian Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Look at 20th century ' date=' hardly any of major conflicts in world are caused by it.Even by Banning religions , Soviet and China did not become model societies[/quote'] China however rose from nowhere to being the top economy in the world.
someone Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Christians and Muslims in Nepal are criticizing the draft version of a new constitution that bans religious conversion. Didn't realize that nobody caught that. There was no reason to put them nor any quotes from them in the article. Just done to create more controversy. Overall, it's an independent country that they have their very right for their own rules. And India should learn from them as India is an independent country as well. Make our own rules unique to our culture and values. The western "secular" was not needed in India and our Congress added big appeasement to it which has really destroyed us deeply.

I have never seen riots happening between North and South Indians. What are you talking about ?? whole second world war brought upon by fighting between nations. Overall concept of "nation" would have caused much higher number of deaths than religions in last one century at least.
Tiger80 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 China however rose from nowhere to being the top economy in the world. Religion or no religion has nothing to do with it. Infact as long religious persecution was going on in 1966 cultural revolution Chinese economy was going downward .China reversed its policies and allowed religious freedom though very much in state control No more than 15 percent of adults in the world's most populous country are "real atheists." 85 percent of the Chinese either hold some religious beliefs or practice some kind of religion, according to the Chinese Spiritual Life Survey. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-briggs/study-rising-religious-ti_b_811665.html?ir=India&adsSiteOverride=in Tomorrow somebody will say that because of communism China became economically powerful
Tiger80 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 whole second world war brought upon by fighting between nations. A child anywhere born in world is brianwashed that fighting and dying for his nation is biggest honour in his life and majority never question whether their nation is actually right or wrong
Raghav_12 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 +1 Patriotism is the biggest cause of war, both Hitler and Japanese were ultra nationalists. A child anywhere born in world is brianwashed that fighting and dying for his nation is biggest honour in his life and majority never question whether their nation is actually right or wrong absolutely.. in words of Joseph Heller his seminal work Catch-22 outside the hospital the war was still going on. Men went mad and were rewarded with medals. All over the world, boys on every side of the bomb line were laying down their lives for what they had been told was their country and no one seemed to mind, least of all the boys who were laying down their young lives. “‘A country is a piece of land surrounded on all sides by boundaries, usually unnatural. Englishmen are dying for England, Americans are dying for America, Germans are dying for Germany, Russians are dying for Russia. There are now fifty or sixty countries fighting in this war. Surely so many countries can't all be worth dying for.'" Countries divide humanity in similar way as does religion. Nationalism can be as intoxicating opium as is religion or may be more. In fact any concept that puts a line between two humans be it nationality, religion, caste, race would lead to wars.

Just like asking for seperate statehood for Delhi is, isn't it?
Shivaji bhonsle Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 This thread is a fine example that Hindus and Christians are never serious about their religion. There is only one religion that is so serious about itself, extreme restrictions, very intolerant towards other religions. Its a mess. Its nauseating that this particular religion sees others as non believers and has legitimate reasons to kill the non believers. Religion is like a drug, when you are consuming that drug 5 times a day, its very addictive and it blinds your rational thoughts and love towards humanity. When Hindus and Christians hardly consume this religious drug, they don't get addicted to it. They are more accommodating for others. Its very sad that these accommodating people are questioned and put under test again and again by the so called secular idiots and forgetting that every non practicing Hindus and Christians is a secular . If you see closely, only Dharmic religious majority countries and Christian majority countries are secular in this world. Ps - don't show me Turkey. They don't pray 5 times a day. Their lifestyle is different.

Kiss their bum and live with them? This is where the idea of Indian country begins, which is secular in nature. Secularism is a fine idea and that idea is what's holding our country.

The whole problem starts when you start shoving down your thoughts down the throat of others, is laughably out of sync with modern world, and instead stomps down to live according to law that was written for a civilization thousands of years back. In short, inability to adapt.
surajmal Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Sh!tload of facepalms in this thread. No influence of religion on Nazis? WTF. Hollywood movies seem to be the primary source of historical knowledge for people these days. And Religion and Communism being antithesis? Ikka dukka quote of Marx on the supposed opium of the masses and people presume that Religion doesn't figure anywhere in the equation.
surajmal Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 As for the headline, Nepal just became my retirement place in the unlikely scenario of Namo not getting at the very least a three peat.
Crookbond Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I don't believe in any religion. My way of life is my way. If its in my hand' date=' I will ban all religions. ;)[/quote'] You religion is intolerance. Yeah, so how can you convert from Hinduism to other "religions"? The duplicity of this facade is nauseating.
rkt.india Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 You religion is intolerance. Yeah, so how can you convert from Hinduism to other "religions"? The duplicity of this facade is nauseating. It was just an expression. Looks like, you took it too seriously. For me, every one is free to do whatever he or she wants to do. Neither I preach nor take preaching.
RedFever Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Nepal may remove 'secularism' from new constitution http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/south-asia/Nepal-may-remove-secularism-from-new-constitution/articleshow/48242178.cms The world secular has been grossly misused by our Indian politicians and media.
