Texy Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 PCB cheats :finger: Basically arranged a tri-series with Zim and WI for a chance to qualify and now that they have qualified, scrapped it in fear if they lose to WI. :sherlock: The tri series between Pakistan, West Indies and Zimbabwe which was slated to start during the month of August has been put on hold by Pakistan and Zimbabwe at the moment. The series was scheduled to play from August 17th to September 17th. Although there is no clear reason behind the postponement of the series, Pakistan would probably don’t want to put them in a threatening position in their qualification to the ICC champions trophy. A win in the 5th ODI will confirm Pakistan's Champions Trophy place if Pakistan or West Indies don't play any more ODIs before 30 September, the deadline. A PCB official told "The decision is taken unanimously and in a cordial manner," the official said. "Both boards now will look for another window other than August-September this year." Pakistan initially agreed for the tri-series as they have don’t have any series lined up in the month of August and also a return of favour as Zimbabwe is the team which helped Pakistan to host an International series in their home after a gap of 7 years. Pakistan, after clinching the series against Sri Lanka moved one place ahead from ninth position to eighth position in the ICC rankings which sealed their spot in the ICC champions trophy as only top eight sides can contest in the champions trophy. With no International ODI fixtures until September 30, it will not affect the chances for Pakistan as there won’t be any changes in the rankings further. If Pakistan accepts the tour and went on to lose the series their place for champions trophy might be in jeopardy. Zimbabwe had also floated an idea for a tri-series involving West Indies, but with Pakistan qualifying for the Champions Trophy, the PCB seems to have had a change of heart, leaving Zimbabwe to scrap their plan. source

HippoSucks Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Apparently they are citing the reason for the cancellation of this series as some sponsor issues from Zimbabwe's side. Although it seems a little too coincidental that these sponsor issues came up right after Pakistan reached #8 in the ODI rankings. West Indies should get a chance to qualify for the Champion's Trophy. Maybe BCCI can arrange a tour and give them an opportunity (by that I do not mean sending a B team just to lose a match and disqualify Pakistan, but if India sends an A team and lose a match then West Indies can qualify).
