Sachin=GOD Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Great news. In the last few months it was clear that he would take over Google soon enough. In the short term his biggest challenges will be to fight Facebook for mobile ad revenues and to convince mobile manufacturers (especially Chinese manufacturers) to go with Google Mobile Service Platform rather than Android Open Source Platform. As for Alphabet - right now it looks like a good move but going forward there will be many challenges (like how separate services, say Google Maps & Auto, or Google Fiber & Search, will work together now that Search/Ads/YouTube/Maps/Android will be GOOGLE and others (Fiber/Nest/Calico/Auto/Google X/Robotics/Google Ventures etc) will be separate companies.) There's HUGE potential though and I expect more of Google's moonshots now. I also think they will either buy a big company or at least buy a substantial stake.

Dont mean to pour cold water over his achievements. But it is nauseating to own up all Individual's achievements abroad as pride for India. Good luck to him. Sunder has earned it.

Kalia_Test Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Good to see Indian born people ( most with atleast bachelors educated in India too ) heading major MNCs but it is time a few created/headed Indian MNCs head-quartered in India. In services part of IT, we already have/had Indian born and bred CEOs of Infy/TCS,etc but would like to see an Indian Product based company of global scale headed by an Indian. However, I feel CEOs of Indian Pharma companies ( even if most are manufacturers of generic drugs with a few venturing into prescription drug discovery) will reach global scale ahead of Indian Tech. The likes of Dilip Sanghvi and host of others are ahead of 'domestic' Indian IT company CEOs.
diga Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 @kalia: if you are looking at a billion dollar company, then that is yet to arrive.. but there are lots of smaller ones who are making tens of million dollars. Most big ones are not headquartered in India and the promising ones are acquired
