I don't understand what people have against this guy ... I dont think anyone is saying he shouldnt be dropped from ODI cricket ... They're just saying that with a first-class average of 61, he should be in the Test squad In 2011, post-WC, he had a good ODI run ... So how did the selectors reward him? By giving him a spot in the Test squad. He didnt play a single Test match in Australia despite the team losing 4-0. He played ODIs, played poorly and lost his Test squad place but they kept him in ODIs. These are the lunatics that run Indian cricket.

Seen him quite a lot in trying conditions in ODI cricket,where his great technique has been found wanting.He may get his chances in tests but this reasoning of test matches being his best format is just laughable IMO.I personally believe he is another Graeme Hick in making.If he is such a freak talent that people call him,he would have made his presence felt in ODI cricket by now.

The reasoning of Tests being his best format is based on his first-class average of 61 and his recent run of form in Ranji cricket. Sure his technique gets found wanting at times. But look at 4 of the top 5 wickets today! Gambhir ... Test player ... BOWLED! Sehwag ... Test player ... BOWLED! Kohli ... Test player ... BOWLED! Yuvraj ... Test player (until 4th test) ... BOWLED! Somehow I think the benchmark for technique nowadays is not that high. The argument that if he was such a great player he would have made his presence felt in ODIs is laughable. There have been a number of good Test players who just weren't good in ODIs ... E.g. Michael Vaughan, Justin Langer, Michael Slater, Mark Taylor, etc. Only in India would we make a guy with a FC average of 61 have to prove himself in ODI cricket.

ah man u have got to be blind to think that he will magically do well in tests yes he has average of 61 in first class cricket but jaddu has 3 triples and averages over 50 some guys are just domestic bullies ..funny how it was not wrong format when played against weaker teams and magically he did not felt any rpessure also people if u have ever watched test cricket pressure is much more when ur struggling there are men around u u end up scoring 10 runs of 50-60 balls and keep on struggling and even the best make mistake cos of that pressure just bcos there is no run rate pressure does not means there is no pressure of scoring runs ..this guy has shown again n again he has big flaw in his technique people who call he has great balance need to understand meaning of word balance he is just poor man's yuvraj :P

Its not about magically doing well in a format ... Its about picking players in the correct format in the first place.

Sure but when you've got a guy who most of the cricketing world (including Ian Chappell, Gavaskar, Ganguly, Wasim Akram, Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds and many others) agrees has tremendous natural talent ... On top of that he's averaging 61 in FC cricket ... Surely he must be given at least a chance. It seems some fans are more concerned with winning an argument than seeing a potentially good batsman be given a chance in a format which he's earnt at least a chance at.

Never said a great player :facepalm:,just talked about his mythical talents ,which should have helped him convert those mythical talents into some runs.People get ecxited seeing him bat because of some shots he can execute which are eye catching but saying average of 61 shows he is a top test prospect and failed ODI bat is pure rubbish. But quite convienent of you to suggest he would make a good test player citing examples of above mentioned average ODI players :hatsoff: And talking about bowled,seen him getting lbw playing across lots of time too.So much for the perfect technique :haha:
