Enough Tailunted Nohit experiment in Tests

If that is your logic, Go check "Tailunt"'s FC numbers when he was playing full Ranji seasons.  He was averaging 60+ and scoring at high rates as well.  In fact, early on, he was a much better 4day player than the limited stuff.  And didn't he just drop a century in his first ranji game this season?  

This is not fantasy cricket where you play superselector with the lineup and plug in the flavor of the month.  Rohit may have his haters and deservedly so, but he is definitely in the top 5 middle order batsmen in the country.  How about you compare his and Kohli's numbers in the last 5 tests?  Or does Mr. Anushka's perpetual fishing outside off get a pass because you like his bearded smirky face, or because he happens to be Captain?

And KL Rahul better than Rohit?  That's downright laughable.  

Is that a joke ur comparing Ranji by international cricket

N its not about comparing someone with last 5 test , When u compare Some one u dnt compate by 5 test by that Standard Kane willamson n David warner wud b Greatest of batsman due to their last 5 test

Rohit has 11 Int 100s- 8 in odi , 2 in Test, 1 in T20 

Kohli has 11 in test only. M not even counting his 23 Odi 100s

In Last 5 test Kohli still has a 100 rohit doesnt. M not counting banglore becoz no one got to bat there

LAst 12 test of kohli- 5 100s n Rohit none

Where in Overseas has rohit got runs barring few half centuries, Top batsman dnt score 50s, In that case binny n jadeja also has 50s

N kl rahul has been new , Rohit has been playing Int cricket for 9 yrs. I bet he wnt b this inconsistent after 9 yrs

Rahul When set in aus a guy playing 2nd test of his career made a 100 not like rohit threw his wkt when india needed hiim to save test. N against aus not some week bowling attack on 5th day 4th innings do u understand the imp of that innings

 

IF u think roohit is better, Plz justify all these stats Dont give me Ranji stats . Coz evn in Ranji ull find player with more Avg

Regarding Iyer and Gurkeerat...their stats are not the only reasons why I want them tried. I have seen Iyer bat in some innings and liked that facts that he has sufficient time to play quick bowlers. He also has a good defense, great timing, decent back-foot play and hunger for runs....all very important qualities required if you want to succeed in internationals. Gurkeerat has performed very well in crunch  India A team games and won us matches. I like players who perform in key games under pressure. Their high averages + scoring rates in FC  are additional qualities which I like.

We are playing many bilateral ODI series now and those would be ideal platforms to try these players out. Unless a player actually plays quite a few international matches, it is impossible to know whether he is fit for international cricket because temperament is the key.

If anybody says that Rohit Sharma did not deserve to be tried in international matches after the way he performed in FC matches ( before he played for India ) then I would be really really surprised. Rohit  may not be test material yet or may never be so....I don't really know. ...but he is a very competent ODI batsman who is capable of hitting big hundreds in sub-continent ODIs....and we play more than 60% of our ODIs in the sub-continent. His problem is...he comes across as someone who is too casual in his approach... and as long as that persists, he will not succeed in tests.

I don't really have a clear opinion about K L Rahul apart from the fact that he has potential. How he would turn out to be in tests ....I don't really have much evidence as of now. I am not comparing him with anyone.

Why would I compare Kohli and Rohit's numbers in just the last 5 tests ?...makes no sense.

Kohli averages 43.36 from 40 tests with 11 centuries. He averages 68 in SA, 62 in Australia, 13 in England, 71 in NZ,  He has 7 centuries and a 90+ outside the subcontinent...which is the difficult part for Indian batters.  ( I rate every batsman...whether Indian, Australian, South African or others.. by what he does outside his comfort zone and  home-like conditions...performing at home is an added plus )

Rohit averages 35.8 from 15 tests with 2 centuries. He averages 11 in SA, 28 in Australia,  17 in England, 40 in NZ. He has 0 centuries and 0    90+ scores outside the subcontinent....which is the difficult part for Indian batters.

Kohli has developed a glaring weakness against the outswinging ball just outside off stump and I am not happy with it. He needs to rectify it ASAP.  ...but comparing him with Rohit in test matches is just .......

Rohit was failure in SA ...agreed.

In tour of New Zealand Rohit managed to score 122 runs in 2 Test matches with a highest score of 72 at an average of 40.66. Decent job I say

In england he played only One Test. Only we indians can call a batsman failure based on 1 Test.

Australia tour wasnt good for any player expect Vijay, all players had failures.

Rohit averages 25.29 in his last 13 tests ( after his debut series ) where his highest has been a 79 in Sri Lanka.

He had a superb debut series of 2 test matches in India against WI where he scored 2 big hundreds.. After that it has been all downhill in tests.

It is true that statistics cannot be the sole deciding factor but his test performances in the last 2 years have been disappointing. i have always wanted him to do well in tests because he is a natural stroke-maker and can play quick bowlers but he has not been able to sort  things out.
