sscomp32 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Quote An extra World Twenty20 in 2018 will be agreed at the International Cricket Council’s annual meeting in Edinburgh, but any further reforms to the game are likely to be put on hold. The inclusion of another World Twenty20, probably to be held in South Africa, was proposed after the ICC was surprised by the amount of revenue raised by the recent competition in India. The tournament, which culminated with England losing in the final, brought in around $250 million (£183 million) in just 27 days, underlining the power of Twenty20 to make money and boost the sport’s profile. Under the original schedule, the next World Twenty20 was not due to take place until 2020, when Australia will be the hosts, but after talks between the ICC and its broadcaster, Star Sports, it has now been agreed the tournament will be held every two years, with another to be pencilled in for 2022. sscomp32 Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 Great decision to keep T20 Wc every 2 years. But disappointed by no concrete decision on 2 tier test championship and ODI league
Malcolm Merlyn Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Heart break for PCB as no new changes will be allowed. So no series with India.

How will this effect pcb The new proposed odi league will be of 13 teams. 10 test teams and AFG, IRE and one of NEP/NED . Every team has to play the other 12 for at least 3 matches . That makes it 36 matches for a team. They can add more matches but 3 is compulsory and only 3 will count towards the league championship. In the end of the cycle, The top 2 teams will battle in a 3/5 odi series final to decide the Champions. This would mean IND has to play Pak for at least 3 matches. Now with the proposal not finalized yet, Pak cant force india. I would have loved to see the 36 matches that AFG/IRE would play. Rasgulla 1

More like Baseball type league Pak doesn't play cricket much with top teams this will be real test.. I like this already... Everybody loves this idea. But dont know why ICC is delaying it. And surprisingly it came from ICC itself.

BCCI cant let this happen.Else they will have to play a series with Pakistan and let them earn money.Or if GOI doesnt allow then forfeit points.

Don't think so it will be that much of a problem. BCCI will convince GOI if the system comes in place. GOI did allow pak for WT20.

In the sense there will be no legs right? Like home and away . So some teams will have an advantage compared to others. For example If AUS play IRE in IRE, they're likely to win all three. But if IND have to play IRE at home, they too will win all three but would have used up 3 of there home matches.

India anyways plays Pakistan 3-4 matches in 3-4 year of span..If its not a series and if itsnt happening in UAE,BCCI wont oppose it.

I am sure if it is implemented these things will be taken care of.
sscomp32 Posted June 30, 2016 Author Posted June 30, 2016 To add to this. ICC has confirmed the main round of 2018 T20Wc will comprise of 12 teams instead of 10. Shashank Manohar, Associates must be seeing him like some sort of saviour.
