The most important issue from yesterday's play

Recommended Posts

Forget about discussing India's continued insipid bowling to the tail, forget about umpires continuing to make a hash out of cricket, forget about Lee's fiery opening spell, forget about Dravid's gritty knock, forget about Laxman's sublime century. Let's talk about how the paying spectators were denied two overs of cricket by Ponting and Australia's go slow over rate here, despite a 30 minute extension in play.

Precisely. This is an unpardonable criminal offense, which deserves the the most extreme chastising. How in this good world can Ponting deny the cricketing public 2 full overs, or 12 whole balls of cricket ? Anything could have happened in that time, Sachin could have hit 11 sixes and ended the day on 85 not out...Too bad Ponting prevented that from happening ! :D

Ahem! Denzongpa doesn't look to be in the vicinity. Probably trying to cook up his next line about cherishing cricket, national affinities be damned, rehearsing his exhortations to Indian supporters to be positive, while deriding Kumble's decision not to declare (damn, that 70 lead, if only Kumble was as big a sucker as this gullible lot on ICF), and trying to figure out a way of backtracking from all the spiel he dished out on Sachin being a fading bozo, while Ponting, who he of course has only the passing admiration as a great batsman, nothing to do with national affinities, no sir, remains infuriatingly out of form. Denzonga is an inflated gasbag full of the most toxic, malodorous, pro-tussive mixture of indoles, skatoles and mercaptans ever to emanate from bacterial activity in the human large intestine.
