Mistry was never the right guy.

His ideas where not bad tbh .

He wanted to concentrate on core areas and exit some no profitable business .

Its not a prudent long term view.Rather than increasing revenue he was focussing on cutting assets.

Well his focus was increasing profits & concentrating on reducing debt. He just wasnt an expansionist . In a long run this may have worked better for Tata's imo , 4 years is too short a time show changes in a company like Tata .

He wasnot increasing profits. The revenue growth was poor. His philosophy didnt match that of the Tata Group.

Wow...Sreenivasan Jain abruptly ended the discussion on Mistry affair after one of the panellists Dushyant Dave brought up Ratan Tata's questionable association with Nira Radia

Revenue growth with out profits cannot be sustained. He helped get rid of business which were going downhill.Tcs and tm contribute 90 percent of profit while rest group companies are laggards.Mistry was good for shareholders.

A lot of problems with Tata companies is what Mistry inherited .

I started my career with Tata's , fortunately or unfortunately was part of Vsnl when it was taken over by Tata and have first hand experience of how things changed for worse for Indias no1 ISP  , worked for TCS , the customers I worked for where Tata Capital , Tata securities , Tata sky and Voltas lol . I can write 10 pages on it . Trust me as a Group its a mess .  They where extremely lucky they where a huge company by the time market opened up and two of their acquisitions in JLR and Tetley worked well for them .

My bet is this has little to do with mistry's performance , there are few Tata companies he was thinking of spinning off , apparently even voltas and this would have hurt a lot of old time big wigs .

Jlr and TCS are the two big acquisitions which are holding that group together.

Steel I thought mistry did right thing selling British unit. The Indian n dutch unit was profitable. Were being dragged by British unit for no reason.
