Two new venues for next two tests?

Ranchi and Dharmasala both grounds have not hosted an International Test Match.. Let alone a high profile one.

Isnt this too risky when a lot is riding on these two test matches? I was surprised to find out these two grounds are hosting these two games.. Dharmasala is no doubt a picturesque ground.. but still a lot of unknowns.  Dharmasala i am thinking will be assisting pace bowlers given the climate up there.

Any idea on pitches?

Good thing about Dharmshala is that it is hosting at the end of winter. The game will take place around end of March, so pitch and conditions perhaps won't be as bad to score. Had they scheduled it as first test in Feburary, Dharmshala as venue could have been as bad as Pune for scoring due to the conditions there.

Yes, new venues does make it tough. We don't know what to expect like Pune. We need to keep it simple, like pitches used against New Zealand and England. Nothing fancy.

Ranchi will be low and slow like Kohli said. Dharmasala no idea. Hope we get proper 5 day test matches, want our batsmen to punish the Aussies, a la Poms.
