Here I am ranking in order of merit the most under achieved left-handed batsmen in history of cricket.Ranking is not in accordance to class but analyzing difference potential of batsmen with actual performance.

1.Alvin Kalicharan

A left-handed Rohan Kanhai. At one stage looked like being the bets batsmen of the 1970s averaging over 56.Technically the most corrct of all-left handed batsmen as well as one of the most explosive.Sadly overshadowed by  other Calypso greats.Best player of spin in his time.

2.David Gower

Elegance and artistry personified.Few batsmen ever played great bowling with such remorseless ease.In terms of pure talent in the Lara class displaying imagination in regions of the sublime.Sadly often thew his wicket away when set and fell out on consistency.

3.Vinod Kambli

At his best close to the Tendulkar league.Temperament got the better of him sadly.

4.Saed Anwar

On his day joined the Gods of Olympus being as dominant as a Lara or Tendulkar.Very elegant and artistic .Faded away early before reaching the heights of Miandad or Inzamam.

5.Brian Lara

Great statistics but in my opnion if he had completely applied himself he would have averaged above 60 and maybe scored 50 centuries.Talent and creativity in mythical regions  taking artitsry to region sof divinity.

6.Wasim Raja

Averaged only around 34 but played the great West Indian pace attack statistically better than any batsmen of his time, averaging over 57 in the Carribean in 1977.

7.David Hookes

A great player of great pace which he revealed in World series cricket.

8.Michael Bevan

One of the great finishers in ODI cricket with great style.Master at improvising.Hardly proved himself in test cricket.

9.Yuvraj Singh

One of the best match-winners of his day in ODI's with great fluidity and style.Played some classic innings in run chases but mot at his best in test cricket.

10.Saurav Ganguly

Very wristy and elegant who could have performed even better if he concentrated more.

Kalicharan, Gower and Lara were entertainers . That's what the public pay money to see . This comes with genius and flaws

Having played with Alvin's brother for a couple years I know it was his mindset to entertain as much as possible .
