All this comes across as whining from Tendulkar. LOL...Chappell imposes ideas ...HE IS THE HEAD COACH' date=' SACHIN. Somewhere along the line, all the accolades and success got to Tendulkar's head.[/quote'] First time i have heard that success got to his head. Regarding Chappell, i always felt that Chappell and Dravid had a great vision but the way chappell imposed it wasnt correct, it was either his way or highway. I always felt that India were becoming a better team till 2006 but then suddenly due to various pressure's Dada had to be bought back and that started India's ODI downfall as lots of combinations were changed. Another factor was chappell pushing for lots of player to play at posiitions which werent suited to them primary being getting Uthappa to open and for that changing positions of lots of other players.

No. Poor cricket resulted in India being booted out of WC2007. When Sachin succeeds, hail Sachin :adore: When Sachin fails, blame the coach :shot:
More to do with poor selection and that was solely the responsibility of chapel and Dravid. They decided to play with 4 openers , decided to demote Sachin from opening ,save Pathan for super six and choose to chase vs Lanka in do or die game.

Sachin Tendulkar’s startling revelation about the Greg Chappell regime with the Indian cricket team in his autobiography Playing it My Way has found many voices of approval from several quarters. One among those is senior Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. The 34-year-old minced no words while talking about the turbulent times the team and he went through during the Chappell era, adding that the former Australian captain wanted to create rifts in the team, by developing misunderstandings within the group. "He had spoiled the atmosphere, implement a 'divide and rule policy'. He would instigate fights between us so that he would be able to do what he wanted. He would trigger misunderstanding between us by telling us 'this player was saying this against you', when in fact, that player wouldn't have said anything," Harbhajan told Times of India. Harbhajan, who hasn't played for India since the 4-0 whitewash against Australia in early 2013 at home, also added that Chappell would say something to the players, but talk something totally different, when interacting with the media. "He hated it if we asked him questions. He would say something to us, and then say something entirely different to the media. He was a double-faced man. What Sachin has written about him is absolutely true,” he added.

After Sachin Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan Slams "Control Freak" Greg Chappell

India's premier speedster Zaheer Khan on Tuesday revealed that Greg Chappell had told him back in 2005 that the fast bowler "would never play for India" till the time he would remain at the helm and termed the period under the Australian as the "darkest phase of Indian cricket". "After he was appointed the coach of the Indian team, he once came up to me and said - "Zaheer, you will not be playing for India till I remain the coach," Zaheer told PTI on Tuesday, completely backing Sachin Tendulkar's revelations about the Australian's tenure in his upcoming autobiography 'Playing It My Way'. (Tendulkar Calls Chappell 'Ringmaster') So how did he react when the coach came up and told him this, Zaheer laughed and said, "I was so taken aback that I couldn't react for some time. I was totally zapped. Like what do I do now? Do I revolt? Do I speak to the captain about what's happening? Do I take his comments at face value? Why is he taking it on me," the 36-year-old said. (Chappell Created Doubts in our Minds: Harbhajan) Zaheer said that Chappell's two-year phase (2005-07) in Indian cricket was "easily the worst and darkest phase" that he could remember. "I understood one thing. This man had agendas and was getting personal. He had his set ideas and if you didn't fall in line, then you have to be prepared to fall by the wayside. He tried to finish my career but I believe I came back even stronger in South Africa during the end of 2006," said the left-arm pacer, who has 311 Test and 282 ODI wickets in his 14-year-international career. Zaheer didn't stop short of calling him a "control freak". "He had some issues with the senior guys in the team. He tried many ways to stop my comeback into the Indian team during the phase when I was out of the team for nearly a year. I came to know later that everytime when my name was discussed, he (Chappell) would find means to delay my comeback by 3-4 months," added Zaheer. (Tendulkar Stood by me During Chappell Controversy: Ganguly) Zaheer said it was a difficult phase but the primary challenge was to shed off the negativity and move on with work in hand. "I made a good comeback in South Africa as I decided to put all the negativity that came as a package with Chappell behind me and perform. I didn't want to get insecure. "You have to understand one thing. A happy bunch wins you matches. We were not a happy bunch. It was a team where someone was using his personal likes and dislikes to control the environment," he added. (Not Fair to Blame Chappell for India's 2007 WC Debacle: Gavaskar to NDTV) After he came back, Chappell was there for another four months till the World Cup ended and Zaheer remembers that phase distinctly. "Well, we didn't have many interactions with him during that time but I could realise that I was winning the battle and he was fighting for a lost cause. Also, why only Indian cricketers, why don't you guys go and ask the current lot of Aussie cricketers about what exactly they feel about Chappell. I can bet that it won't be much different from what we are saying," said the highest wicket-taker during India's victorious 2011 campaign. Sachin (Tendulkar & Team Were Labelled Traitors After 2007 World Cup) He said that during India's triumphant 2008 home series against Australia (India won the 4-Test series 2-0), he was fired up seeing Chappell in the opposition dressing room. "Chappell had come as a consultant of Cricket Australia during that tour. I can say from a personal point of view that I was really fired up and gave it my all. The anger of that phase egged me on to do well and prove a point to Chappell," Zaheer concluded.

Most indian cricketers have always been lazy. You can call Chappell's tactics different from what these players were used to but there was nothing devious about it
Meeting with a senior player in private to conspire with him to oust the current captain doesn't sound devious to you? Fair play to Sachin. My respect just went notches above (if it could!!). Didn't speak a word about this in public but did his duty by informing BCCI promptly. What a man! No wonder the rotten guy was booted out immediately after WC. Should've actually booted him out much earlier.

Somewhere along the line, all the accolades and success got to Tendulkar's head.[/quote'] It is not a football team where the head coach is master of everything. This is cricket. A different sport altogether. One that has infinitely more nuance and emphasis on mental aspect as compared to football. That is why cricket is called more of a mental game. Of course, it might be difficult for some people to understand that. Secondly, being head coach doesn't give you the freedom to treat your players like slaves, and all evidence points out that Chappell himself admitted that he wanted to do the same.
