amiret
Holding : "The MCC needs to change the laws about the size of the bats." Ian Chappel : "Lengthen the boundaries , it is rubbish to talk about bringing the boundaries in due to the safety of the fielders , We Had a 130 years where we played the full boundary " amiret And Ian Chappel agree. watch from 2:00 onwards . BeautifulGame
Ian Chappel always talks like an idiot. There should be decent space btw boundary ropes and adv hoardings. Link to comment
amiret
No hoardings needed . That is what Chappel seems to be saying. ICC can find other way to make up the loss in revenue. Link to comment
BeautifulGame
Chappell is saying go back to the olden days were there were no boundary ropes in Australia. Its pretty stupid really. The athletism is much improved and fielding far more committed so its a daft comparison Link to comment

amiret
if bats can be modified and improved upon for better timing and for hitting big sixes , why can't cricket balls be modified by manufacturers to swing Late , Seam and Turn more ? Advertisers and unscrupulous Marketeers have ruined the game of cricket. Link to comment

Zero_Unit
this game is really becoming unfair for the bowlers. Even a miss timed shot will go for a six with ease sometimes. Link to comment
Stuge
Still nz got all out under 45 overs facepalm Link to comment
Pagalpanti
Starc is averaging 10 @ 3.5 rpo, stop cribbing about bats. Just get back to 1 new ball and 5 fielders outside to give some cushion to lesser bowlers. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
thats the point ... isnt it? they can mishit a few and change the course of a match in t20' date='but not over a longer duration game[/quote'] Almost all of those guys have got a ODI 100s. Giving heavy bats is not enough. You still need to be a good player to exploit it. Bats are more meaty. They are not bigger in size. Kapil Dev even with an old bat smashed 4 sixes in a row to save follow on. Yes they do play a part. But not that big a part as they say. Field restriction, flatter pitches and above all intent. Since the advent of T20 mindset of batsmen have changed a lot more. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxlon6PWMOM]Kapil Dev 4 sixes in a row (To avoid Follow On) - YouTube[/ame] Link to comment
vvvslaxman
For instance some of the shots ABDV plays , don't really need newer bats. he could do that just as well with older bats.. Azharuddin had one of the lighets bat. But he was able to hit boundaries at will . Link to comment

We routinely see edge fly over slips, top edges that land over third man or fine leg region for six, mishits clear the ropes. The other day in the Ind vs SAF Rahane muscled a fast bowler for six over midwicket at the G. In those days only Beefy & Viv were capable of hitting sixes at the G. With the ridiculously sized bats coupled with field restrictions the game has been reduced to a joke. The bowler has his hands tied behind his back, mouth plastered and eyes blind folded and ears sealed. The game will have no following if the status quo continues for too long. Link to comment
