  1. Great observation ! If he can get that ball to deviate a bit at that pace from a good length/ fuller length often , he will be a big wicket taker . Already taking most wickets with rising shortish stuff at the body. Add to it ,now they need to watch out for length/fuller length balls on wicket to avoid bowled /LBW . This will make batsmen even more late in playing the shortish ball esp. to right handers. If he can do that , it will set him apart among the young quickies even at international level. Next test for him- to watch his strategy against good players who will come towards the off stump to use his pace to get boundaries on on side . Hope he has worked that out too. VERY encouraging stuff !!
  2. That is mostly first 15-20 runs , would have been very nervous after failures in this series. You can't paint black rest of the innings of 80 odd runs when all sundry were hopeless.
  3. I agree a lot with this . Blame is on both sides - Young players not showing consistent performances or not playing , and selectors not taking bold decisions by picking young players in place old pacers who are past their prime. 1. If a potential India pacer does not play many matches in domestic due to injury 2. If he is not able to give consistent performances whenever he plays in domestic 3. Cannot even get a place in state team (though in some cases it is due to biased selection) , how a selector can play them in India national team ? The most, India A team selection can do, is to play these in A matches if state teams do not provide the opportunities & assess them . In this respect Akashdeep selection is justified at this moment , though he may also struggle to take wickets in these pitches.
  4. How did he score runs against one of the best AUS attack , how did he score today if he is so bad ? Probably one of best young player vs high pace & bounce , but has weakness against swing and spin. But today's knock shows that he can iron out his game vs spin else he could not have scored a ton while all others failed . Swing is a bigger problem. BUT he is not a very bad player as some try to sound it that way . I feel some of the Great players of the past like KP, Gambhir, Shastri etc. have better cricketing acumen than us !
  5. Donald was real quick around 1992. Watch any video of SA first tour to India in 92.
  6. IMO he is still not ready for Tests. Do not think he can bowl 17- 20 overs a day & still maintain intensity. May resort to 120ish slow stuff when tank is empty . Has not played much 4 day cricket. Let him first become the T20 bowler he was when he debuted with dipping , swing yorkers at will & then graduate to ODIs . No hurry at all.
  7. But he also has that beautiful shot between mid on to wide mid wicket and gets boundaries just by timing. So may get out at times . Thats OK. Remember If you score of good balls on stumps , you will score well.
  8. His game vs swing looks better than Ishan, Iyer, Ruturaj . Defence is tighter than Gill too . So looks much better prospect to me looking at his age . I am talking from long format POV. Did not see him beaten by pace even at 90+ miles of Burger . Need to watch a bit more of him vs targeted bumpers .
