There is over a 95% possibility that he has played his last test for India. Ideally he should announce his retirement in the next few days instead of going through with this farce. But he wont. So he will be dropped post BGT.

The last sentence is what im saying too. Op too. There are some who will have great stats on meaningless games and go missing when it matters. Indias home domination was cos we had players who would stand up during tough moments and make it count.

I agree with OP tho. Some players have the mentality to fight it out more than others. It's not always about ability or stats. We can get them in via stats...but whether they stay or go depends on how well they play under pressure. Sarfu had a great start on flat tracks... Couldn't buy a run on turners.. Couldn't even fight it out... That's not a good sign so far.

Add to that no contribution from Ashwin and 2 pacers. So that's 70/7. Rest is Jaiswal, Pant, a bit of Jaddu & Sundar. 70/7 every damn innings. Mark this down.

Years back, I remember Indian posters giving me a hard time when I said Yo Yo test can't be hard criteria back in PP. (I even suggested a more workable balanced approach to get some players fitter). Those posters weren't having it. LMAO. Would you rather have Sehwag, Pujara, Rahane type players (good bats plus safe catchers) or Yo Yo freaks in your XI? Every couple of years a new kool-aid comes which posters fall prey to. It's pretty sad tho. Takes a few years for everyone to realize they have been duped.

I have given up on him. He looks uncomfortable against spin or swing. How will a top order survive if he is this shaky. Unless he is some variation of Graeme Smith / Dean elgar who always look like getting out but they are in control and they get the runs. Unlikely.

Yeah how many of those 100s of times did the pitch turn like it did for Pujara? Now add in the quality of bowlers like Swann, Panesar, Lyon on those pitches...not to mention guys like O Keefe. Kohli averaged 60+ in India till 2019. Same as Pujara. But I won't even put them on the same planet on Asian pitches (Kohli overseas is a different beast). Cos I know where and how Pujara scored those runs compared to Kohli. It's about 1. Stats 2. Context of the runs 3. Opposition 4. Match situation For me, watching all of them play since late 90s...Pujara reigns supreme taking everything into account. Why? One main reason: Some talent sure...but mainly mentality.

lol no. This is the problem. Once we decide prime Swann and Monty on a tough Mumbai track is easier than bashing Macgill on a flat Aussie track..... No wonder modern batsmen cannot compete with the yesteryears. One would think these guys would bash Swann and Monty on those turners black and blue.. But in reality, Clarke and Afridi and Shaun Udal running through our 2000s batting lineup on a turner have shown all this is pure myth.
