What makes it to come to a conclusion that he will languishing in domestics and will not get any international exposure. Test cricket is the ultimate test so its better you prepare for all which will be thrown at . -

i differ . He should play T20 first and by year end should be playing 50 overs . Post that, next year test cricket but start with middle over position . The way he got out recently makes me think he needs to iron out a few things on very pacy bodyline attack. With experience in 50 overs where he will be tested intensely with such bowling from both ends (which is not possible in T20) he would have found a workaround by then and in MO in test cricket gives him time to adjust to test cricket with a clear plan and success at MO will propel him to any batting position he wants to play. -

Every great batter has failed under some conditions , against some kind of bowling .What is batting success of Virat in ENgland except one series , - people put him on moon praising? What was the batting success of Dravid inSA, AUS may be one good series in Aus? Ponting in india ..so many such cases .. And which modern indian T20 player wins matches on a juicy wicket and how many times we get such pitches in T20 and ODI? Even in tests what is point of playing and getting 10 runs in 100 balls , if pitch is tough getting 30-40 would be big contribution in winning ,than a 100 ball 10.? Keep aside all this crap swing and seam and get him in . i would suggest play him in MO when is selected for test team in due course, till then carnage in short formats as opener. -
will go for nehra anyday over morne

Biggest miss is Jaiswal. Rohit is blocking his place.

You have to give it to high quality batsmanship. -
We should be very very careful about ranji stats . Except 6-7 teams all other teams are trash. Only performance against the those good teams counts .

India A squad to tour SL (tri series with Afg A)
prudent_kreeda replied to Sooda's topic in Cricket Talk
I am not against giving him a chance as he should be able to find the balance between attack and defence so that it will lay foundation for test debut later on . But if the pitches are as low and slow as they were previously then hitting everyball in the air will not succeed there. i think they will try to tie him arounf leg stump with spinners and then throw odd balls wider and chance of mishit would be much higher as wickets will also be slow. May have to change his tactics by trying to get more singles and punish hittable balls. If he does not allow to be tied down and break the shackles by getting fours by ground storkes too then perhaps he will have much better tour overall. So expectation is tempered down and cannot expect IPL kind of heriocs. But happy he will have his test of different pitch conditions so early and one of the least favourbale for an attacking batsman. Good for future growth. Equally curious to see does he have an ace up his sleeve like Veeru who conquered Ajantha. -

If we observe most of fiery bowlers they also conserved energy and bowled some very quick spells and some at lesser pace with few real quick deliveries as a surprise. Also they will not go all out on docile pitches , may bowl some overs at peak pace, rest at reduced pace. But at full fitness he can go full throttle atleast in T20s for 2 overs each. -
I think we need to try now few young emerging pacers as there are always chance of injury to preferred pacers . Looking at SA pitches may help pacers bit more than spinners we should zero in on - Any Pacer decently accurate with X factor i.e. express pace with decent death bowling credentials and a good fielder OR a pacer with decent pace , can swing or seam and then can be good at the death , good fielder My vote goes to Prince Yadav -bowls around high 130 to 140 , can seam and swing if there is some help (ball to Virat) , deceived most of batters this IPL with change of pace, consistenty accurate. Change ofpace with same arm speed is the edge he has compared to all other emerging pacers and looks more mature and ready material as a candidate. What TM can do is- play him in T20s and also start give him exposure in some of the one dayers in next 6 -8 months and see how he shapes up. Would like views on his choice and any other equally good candidates. Have left out Harshit Rana due to injury and is already in in the 16 if fit.

Very Very few in the world in last 15 years did it almost every ball 150+and did it consistently . Seems It is just not possible for him with his physical frame. He will get injured again. -
If Reddy keeps his fitness even after bowling 6-7 overs in every match , he could be a great addition to the 16 member team. He has already improved his bowling quite a bit , bowls near mid 130 with some movement . Let him improve further in another 9 months . I think bowling should the prioirty . Once he bowls decently ,batting can be improved as we have seen his ability, IN SA we may get pitches with some help and couple of pace all rounders will make the team more balanced PLUS in emergency he can be stop gap replacement for Hardik though not of same level perhaps.

Fringe- Young players who will be in the Indian team soon.

Jurel -Good against spin too and overall looks very compact and sound expressji. India needs to support him for tests and ODIs . Should be a very good investment for future. -
IPL Needs More Mukul Choudharys — Not Just Big Names
prudent_kreeda replied to gakgupta's topic in IPL Forum
was not happy with his batting against high pace vs GT . Was hit badlty by on head by Ashok with 151 bouncer. Struggled to hit any big shots against pacers in that innings vs pacers and ultimately holed out to pacy rising ball with nothing shot . So against real pace need to see how well he playes esp. risingback of length and bouncers. Good agaist full pitched balls and spinners -

Do not know how Arshdeep's place is questioned in T20 when you do not have even 1 half decent LH Swing pacer with good height . He is not Starc and bit inconsistent . Was very good with yorkers 2-3 years ago but now misses them often. Still has all the tools to succeed in T20. -
In fact among the young big bashing openers like Abhishek,Arya, Prabh ,Kishan , Sanju i feel Vaibhav has the better probability of consistent success in ODI going ahead as he irons out his game against short stuff and second if counters bowlers consistently bowling wide of off with change of pace with 2 boundary riders on the off side in PP . (Sanju good but more inconsistent for his experience) He is better than others in below areas - 1. He does not move about a lot like prabh, abhishek , His head and body very steady . 2. generates incredible power so even mishit also clears boundary - do not think others match him in this even at this age. 3. Apparently can hit at any area - on , off , down the ground, ramp shot. deft shots 4. Uses smarts - does not hit every ball, defends good deliveries and seem to pick areas to hit based on fielders stationed. 5. Ability to change shot mid way . 6. Already built a reputation that if bowlers bowl 1-2 avarage deliveries they will go out of the ground. Thus bowlers tend to make more mistakes unless they are really good bowlers. 7. All his shots are good cricket shots hit with power & timing and no hanky panky shots and has the game to stay if he wants to. Proof is- he is the only one who has among these attacked successfully world class bowlers like - Josh, Rabada, Bhuvi, Rashid , Siraj, Bhumra , Trent etc. Imagine the carnage for 10 overs with only 2 outside the circle if he stays through PP. !!!

Performances are always there in ODIs but chokes in big matches. Agree on mental aspect side but skill wise there is no doubt , The brand of cricket in whiteball now making many to develop newer shots , more agrressive and play with a specific goal. TM should be specific that his role will be WK + middle Order power hitter with a minimum strike rate . In one dayers need guys who have power hitting ability with decent technique to minimise too much risk. Think he is adapting when looking at recent knock in IPL. Looking at SA pitches i would like to have some one better suited against pace with a better defence. In MO i would still prefer KL over Shreyas as he aslo is the 2nd keeper in 16. Shreyas does not provide that option . Any way shreyas will be in 16 in my list. Doubt Kohli will leave after his recent ODI 100s. So how do we bring in Jaiswal ? Yes ROKO may still hang on more due to their hold with right people who matter but do not like one bit to go with 2 40 yrs batters . We need to see, do they still have the same reflexes against pace & swing . Will not go by recent scores on Indian pattas . No emotions in selection. For me Ro is a clear out . VK if in form might be included but always be ready to niggle out which i feel might happen. Hence need to keep jaiswal ready . Better than Kuldeep ? Will go by Form . Kuldeep at times goes totally off colour . Kuldeep , Axar , Bishnoi would 3 spinners in contention . May work as defensive bowler when needed if he maintains better control . These would be probables and from that who maintains form nearing WC should be in the 16 list.

I was impressed by Shivang -
add Kartik Sharma , Aman Rao

1.No i would not drop KL for one dayers .My hunch -We should see better performance from KL from now on . 2.I prefer Jurel over Iyer since this WC is in SA and the kind of game he has against pace - the pulls & cuts .More rounded player than iyer and has the defence to carry through tough period in 50 overs plus he will be 2 nd keeper . I think he is a must. 3.Also Jaiswal is a must for ODI Xi. 4.Would like to take a punt on Bishnoi ion 16 if he is bowling the way he doing now. 5. Gill can be No.3 as i see a replacement will be needed for VK.

i think we need a good LH pacer who also has death bowling skills , can bowl yorkers well and also can hit 4/6 at 9. I would try Mangesh Yadav first . Bowls yorker and short ball well. strong physique and very good fielder . also Naman Tiwari another who can come up well . ALredy 150+ bowler and leftie. Another one is Kartik Sharma - How he develops

What if he succeeds in IPL even 40% of the games ? Will still take him in INDIA TEAM. I am sure he will do atleast that much in this IPL if he stays 10-12 balls initially. He can take couple of overs which he will cover up in no time. I would have loved to hear from uttappa Dosa what are technical weaknesses in T20 games which will be exploited so badly in this IPL? Is he hack ? May be bouncers , wide of off stump balls ? .. Mind you he is also working wioth some of best brians in cricket at RR like Sangakkara who also expect what bowlers will try to do and he is preparing for that. Waise bhi Even Tendya, Virat, Rohit kya kiya tha for 1-2 years ? Only Tendya showed real class at that age. Get him in T20 right after IPL against lower level teams like any of AFG, Zimb, Ireland though they have some very good opening bowlers & spinners . Let him get the experiece and any shortcomings noticed can be recrtified pretty early in his carteer.
