Say you direct me with your link to the host site with lots of interesting links placed strategically around the redirected article, the time i allot for icf will very likely be spent in clicking around the host site and its comment section instead of leaving and reading comments in icf's thread. But you can also argue, the time rightfully belonged to the host website's and never to icf to begin with.

People post here because they want to talk with people here and make a point . Have u ever shared something on some social network ? People still comment there and like etc even though they cannot read a thing .. If site did not go down I would have agreed with you that quote is enough but until we cannot be 100 percent sure why take risk ?

Not everyone is misinformed while making a point. May be. But people come to ICF mainly because of other people in ICF. You can always find information using google.

You both are correct as different people come here for different reasons.. Not posting anything and just link will hurt the site but I think people should post part of article and summarise it and anyone interested can read rest by clicking link . I am sure 99 percent of sites would have no problem with what we have bee doing until now but that one guy lead to site being down for 2 days and IMO we should not take risk ..
