bunny
He is a #3 batsman and our #3 in this series is gonna be GG. GG has had a miserable international career and has a mediocre List A career. Badrinath is a very good fielder and has had an exceptional Ranji season and has a very good List A career. Surely deserves to be selected ahead of GG, KKD, Raina and RS. Link to comment
mister
Yes, Definately he should have been in there..the guy is a scoring machine and yet not in the team but then again there is plenty of competition in the side so cant blame selectors.. Link to comment
Chandan
Badri should not be chosen for ODIs. He is not a very good limited over player. If chosen, his career might end here itself. We need to give him break in the test team. Link to comment

Chandan
No. Haven't seen him in an ODI because he hasn't played any. But last season I saw him playing Deodhar Trophy, list A matches. He was average to say the least. And if given a break in a format in which he is not good at, might kill his career forever. We should use him as a back-up batsman in the tests. Since we are playing so many tests this year, replacement will be needed at some point. He has to be completely ready for that. Link to comment

msb1991
I think it would be best to give Badrinath his first go in Test cricket. However, this oppotunity should be sooner rather than later. With a FC average nearing 60, he certainly is a spectacular batsman. Link to comment

bunny
Btw, here is Badrinath's video: [ame=http://youtube.com/watch?v=p_JxK3R-qfQ]YouTube - Badrinath[/ame] (He does look a bit stiff in his stance and grip. Maybe it's good that the selectors didn't choose him for ODIs). Link to comment
satishg
badri is more of a grafter than an attacker..he belongs to the kaifs and russel arnold types..i dont see anything special in him..but he has the tenacity for a long innings..so he is better suited for test level and he also has the determination..anyway gambhir is just a walking wicket..i don know how he is there in the team..v cud have chosen Tiwary instead of him..but gambhir has the backing of dhoni i guess.. King
I've heard he's more suited to test cricket and it is in the best interest of everyone he is played in test cricket first then the ODI. He may not be able to apply well in ODI and may have to throw his wicket away sooner than later. Couple of failures or three will set back his confidence. Link to comment
Gambit
Being a good cutter and puller, Gambhir is going to enjoy the truer and spongier tracks of OZ. I think he will do quite well. Link to comment
Guest HariSampath
Badri is a very good player who is being kept out too long now. He is a good ODI player as well. In the game against SAF A , he single handedly pulled India to 250 from 100-5 I think, with a run a ball 90 and then took 4 wkts to win the game. He also did well in Challenger's trophy. Although it is a good idea to blood him in tests, the reason to play him in ODIs is because he is never going to et a chance in the Indian middle order, with 4 top players and also Yuvi sitting out. Badri has a wide range of strokes and can beautufully place the ball in gaps, so he will be ideal for a ODI # 3 spot Link to comment
