The under 19 Indians lost to even Nepal in U-19 Asia cup held recently and were eliminated in the group stage itself. This bunch of u-19 Indians appear no patch on the earlier batches of U-19 youngsters who are now playing in Indian senior teams.

In the present team, only the skipper Prithvi Shaw (who did not play in the Asia Cup) looks like a future prospect for senior Indian team.

Rahul chahar is a standby

They have picked another leg spinner Pankaj Yadav. It will be held in NZ, so, spinners won't be that valuable.

is he better then rahul

At the end the better has to be picked . Still ull play one spinner among 4 bowlers and rahul looks like a match winner

I'm not sure what's the deal with the selectors, why did they leave out chahar & urvil Patel, more importantly chahar, he is the lead spinner for God sake.. Yadav is a 15 yr kid, doesn't know how to bat, chahar atleast can bat a bit & also take wickets.

One reason I can think of is that they want to teach him to be a bit humble as he has a swag about him and sometimes looks like over confidence.. otherwise no real reason to drop him.

The rest are all good selections but the opening is a bit shaky for me Kalra has not been consistent & unfortunately no other opener dis very well, had hopes from Ankush Singh, but he failed in the challengers..

Middle order is not too great either, Abhishek has not had any big scores for India u19 neither has harvok desai,so after Shaw shubman & Rana, no other batsmen can win the game on their own, that is a very weak point for me since last editions always had a very strong middle order.

This team is loaded with all rounders, Sharma, nagarkoti , Mavi, Roy all of them are 1st choice in playing 11, for me Sharma is not somebody who can run through sides, Roy can contain & be a wicket taking option so my main spinner ahead of shiva Singh since he can bat & bat well!!

He was Jharkhand captain and did better than Chahar in challenger. But yes, Chahar's exclusion is surprising.
