Himanshu Rana should been the captain. He is more composed of the two. Shaw is too overconfident and reckless.

his batting certainly has both these traits in abundance, as well as stupidity.

That team had most frontliners resting

Prithvi Shaw , Shubman Gill, Himanshu Rana, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Ishan Porel, Shivam Mavi, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh, Riyan Parag,  Anukul Roy, Abhishek Sharma, Darshan Nalkande

are all India prospects

not sure all of them are. would say porel, chahar, gill and shaw. rana had a miserable ranji season.

They are prospects

All of them won't make it, but we don't know who they are

pretty sure we'll see at least 1-2 who will be hyped and then fade away to some degree. it has happened with the last squad that won the U-19 WC. Unmukt, baba and harmeet.

Usually, not more than 2 or 3 make it from a good batch

This is where temperament and focus comes in

But, we don't know which 3

the 2006 WC team was a good one - choked massively against pak and lost in final though. from that team, chepu, Rohit, jaddu and chawla played for ind and the first 3 have been long-term regulars at least in 1 format.

the 2008 one is better known of course - kohli, jaddu (again), mukund, pandey and saurabh tiwary all played for india (kaul may join the ranks).

yes, 2-3 in these cases. however, some of the later sides have not yet produced that man regulars or even occasional players (too young maybe?)

I am saying that best case scenario maybe  3 or 4 regulars .... worst case maybe 0

But, to get 3 regulars, we may need 7 or 8 prospects

2004 had Dhawan, RP, VRV, Raina, Karthik

2014 team has Samson, hooda, Iyer, Avesh, Sarfaraz already in contention or playing.

I am talking about regulars in the national team.

Most prospects will end up playing a few matches

Yes.

At the U-19 wc level the fastest bowler on the tournament has barely touched 140-141 mark ...rabada avesh anwar ali etc.

Koti and porel has potential to hit 140 consistently and even touch 145 and surprise the world.

I may be wrong, but I seem to recall Jamie Overton (brother of Craig Trundlerton) nearly hitting 150... high 140s in a few balls when he played at the U-19 level.

Ohh may be...

I thought only pat cummins has ever done that - 150 clicks at 17-18, although not in wc.
