Khaleel Ahmed is impressive

Agree that SRH should have tried him in the league phase itself and rotated their bowlers to pick the best in the knockout phase.

If I have to give a benefit of doubt to the SRH thinktank, they were never sure of the top two spots till the end as I guess they themselves did not believe in their batting ability to win the matches and pinned all the hopes on the bowlers and so kept on putting the same combination which was giving them wins. Their batting was a complete letdown and their backup options were almost non-existent.

Dhoni had that luxury of a good bench and a smart operator that he is, he kept rotating them and zeroed in on the best combination in the knockouts. Everyone thought he had a lot of has beens in the team, but he took care that all of his bowlers could bat and it showed in their approach when they were not flustered even with mounting RRRs.

Of all the guys they thought Manish Pandey could do the job in the middle order. Tom moody or Laxman need to explain that.

The inclusion of rookie pacer Khaleel Ahmed in the Asia Cup squad is India's latest move to find a potent left-arm fast bowler that can lend variety to an attack that has grown in stature over the years but remains without a southpaw seam-up option that is consistent with his performance.

The likes of Jaydev Unadkat and Barinder Sran haven't lived up to the high standards the Indian team has set for itself in performance and fitness, which is why the radar has moved to 20-year-old Ahmed.

Khaleel's strength lies in extracting bounce even on docile surfaces - which could come in handy in the Asia Cup in Dubai and Abu Dhabi - and he's got pace too. He grew up playing tennis-ball cricket in Tonk, a Rajasthan town known for its muskmelons. On muddy surfaces where batsmen kept swinging, he learned early that the only way to beat them was by being quick through the air. Now he's trying to blend that pace and bounce with with swing to become the complete fast bowler.
