Gambit Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Man and woman can be equal till the child comes into the equation. For a man to expect things to stay the same is just not fair. I agree with that. The woman goes through a lot in those 9 months and it's the man's responsibility to be there for her and support her by whatever means necessary. But wasn't the discussion about a woman marrying a man who earned the top dollar? And after the child grows up to be 5+, the woman and the man should equally share the expense of his education etc if the woman was working before the birth.
Guest HariSampath Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 You are a sick @$%^%. hari! Me ??? when I was pointing out the equal role of men and women in producing babies, the first and only thing you can think of is Orgasm !! you label men's role as providing an Orgasm ? eeeik ...beets, I think you would tend to focus on those things that YOU are interested in and see everything in that color...I think your view of men's role is just f@^#d up !
beetle Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Well zap ...it is all about having security in that 5 yrs /child. If after that the man and woman are doing work equally at home and at work ...then it is fair to expect the women to earn the same.
Guest HariSampath Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 A man works for 35 years till he retires. A women has to carry a child for a few months, and then lets be charitable and say that she takes care of it for 5 years(which is shared btw, atleast among the people i've known). After that, the child pretty much spends most of the time at school. The math is just not right. and what about the diapers ?? !! the man has to pay for it, go get it, and stay up all night to change it while the woman snores, this , for a few years, alone more than makes up for any pregnancy !
head coach Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 Scientifically' date= centuries of human evolution has made it such that females look for good nests while males look for healthy females to pass on their seed. But in this age, what is stopping them from creating the nest for their offsprings themselves? Well if a woman is going to start a family with someone and invest her blood, bones ,emotions time and effort in producing a child which will also have that man's name ...then the least she expects is that the man will be capable of providing for the child when she is producing and looking after the child. Yes...women can bulid their own nest ,produce the baby almost solo and take care of it all by themselves.....but why should they have to?What is the man's investment in the child? Why do you get to pass on your genes without working hard for it while the poor woman literally gives her blood and bones for helping you pass on your genes along with hers? Why do you so called modern men expect a free piggy back ride for your genes? You want women to be independent and do their own thing... you go produce your own babies too.... What the heck? You think those sperms come handy dandy. There is lot of work behind before those good looking sperms are donated huh! A woman's part in the whole episode is negligible when compared to the enormous amount of energy a man wastes!

And one of the poster here thing she can do it all alone. What a hypocrisy!

And one of the poster here thing she can do it all alone. What a hypocrisy! Thate because in their hearts men and women are hypocrite, but none want to admit. All things being equal the girl will be with a guy who is able to give her a better lifestyle. Yes she will mask it as having to "do so" for better life for the kids et all but it starts first from her, doesnt it? All things being equal men will go for a girl who behaves like a slut when light goes out and is sati-savitri infront of their parents. Yep we are hypocrite all right. My request for picture still stands, get me some graphics..will also ensure the expert in the area - GKD - to surface.

If you look at the term seduction that itself can be described as a characteristics of women not men. You take any women from history Cleopatra, Menaka, Parvathi. There is no men in the list. So the initiative itself is from the side of women towards men so it is proven that women cannot do this alone! Lurker, I'll get fired if I look for pictures during the day:-) Not going to take that risk!
Lurker Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Lurker, I'll get fired if I look for pictures during the day:-) Not going to take that risk! Exactly how? Please put a picture of a model in suggestive pose and then a analogus pose of a porn star to further your point of view..:D:D I am just messing with you HC.
Rajiv Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Rajeev, I'm interested in hearing you out. I have noticed that, without expressions; words can be very deceiving on an internet board so I keep it to a bare minimum. I will keep my opinion about husband shopping and this marriage bliss to myself
Lurker Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I will keep my opinion about husband shopping and this marriage bliss to myself But surely you can't Rajeev :D Spit it out will ya? You do realize thats how a good conversation typically starts, personal thoughts. Though I do realize that often the depth of a person's feelings is lost on the bits and bytes of message board.

CC1981 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Man and woman can be equal till the child comes into the equation. For a man to expect things to stay the same is just not fair. No, things don't stay the same once child enters the equation. Point is, if you try to put a value on everything and make a 'saudaa' once child enters the equation, it makes a man lose respect for the woman. Woman shouldn't be dependent on man- they should be independent and responsible for their own bread winnings. And out here, when a woman gets pregnant, she gets 4 months of paid maternity leave before baby is born and 12 months of paid maternity leave after baby is born. Men too earn maternity leaves but not on the same scale. As per responsibilities, there is a thing called 'load-sharing'. Women have to nurse the baby, bring up the baby, etc.- in times like those, thats when the man takes care of more chores around the house. There is absolutely no reason why it is expected for men to earn more than women- hell, i know quite a few couples where the woman earns more and yet it is never an issue. In our desi culture, there is a lot of male-dominated aspects to it and maybe it is worth considering the role women play in reinforcing those notions: If you expect a man to support you, then you should also expect the man to order you around. Its just that simple, since it is human nature. One feels the right to have his/her way if they are supporting you and you are leeching off of them- even if you are the mother to their babies. You cannot have male-female equality in relations unless there is a male-female equality in independence (on a personal level). It is a question of respect and it becomes hard to respect a person who will simply sit around the house and do nothing but play with the kids all day long and I am the sole breadwinner. Divide the responsibilities and have independent incomes and maybe then we can have gender equalities. This is very evident once you investigate the nature of relationships and dependencies in societies that have better gender equality than India- I can say for a fact that gender relations are far more humane and lightyears ahead of India in places like Canada, Norway, Denmark, Holland, etc. and in those nations, there is a very obvious sense of feminine independence and load-sharing when baby arrives.

beetle Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 CC... My comments are based on what happens in India. Find me a few men who actually share the work load at home and in bringing up the children and I will give you a million of women who do it all. I have enough cousins on the "super woman train". They start the day in kitchen ,work all day and come back to slave it out .They have kids and then the workload just increases. The so called modern and liberal husbands help out may be once in a week in the kitchen and changes a few nappies. Its the woman who stands in line for the nursery admissions ...and most often the woman who helps out with the homework while she is going in and out of the kitchen. Show me one man who says...you make one meal and i'll make the other...you can count such men on your fingertips. If you ever have the time...check out the lives of woman on Pune mumbai trains who commute to mumbai every day for work. The men and women start together ...only difference is that the poor woman gets up hours brfore the man to cook tiffins for her husband and the kids. They all work and come back only for the woman to go straight to the kitchen so that she can put food on the table while the guys most likey spreads out in front of the TV asking for a cup of tea . Some women pick up veggies in mumbai and cut them on the way on the train for dinner while most men spread out to play cards. Do you think this is a fair situation. Why should they have to do double duty? This unfortunately is the reality of most working women in India.
mhr123 Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colorful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.
