fineleg
Ppl come up with counter questions like why ask the best opening batsman to bat in middle order etc. etc. Nothing against Tendulkar, but when a quick blow like this is delivered to a rookie team, then our hopes (and team hopes) get shattered. Keeping Tendu in the middle at #4 means, even if we are 20-2 we can still harbor hope (and the team too). What say? Shift Tendu to #4 for the next matches in CB series!? Link to comment
fineleg
Something we have discussed before, but this shows how hopeless it feels when Tendu is dismissed within first 5 overs. By batting him down, we can still hope for a win even if we lose quick wickets due to some blitzkrieg fast bowling by B.Lee, or Malinga, or Dale Steyn, or Shane Bond or whoever. Link to comment
Guest Hiten.
....and we will yet again Ignore your thread. Seriously, Fineleg. Tendu SHOULD open the innings. No discussions on that. Link to comment
Ram
Asking a guy with 40 ODI 100s to bat in the middle order is probably the MOST retarded decisions ever. Link to comment
fineleg
BB and MM, You gotta realize I'm not questioning SRT here or whether he is good or not. I am saying he is good, and we NEED him DESPERATELY! Thatz why Im suggesting to protect our raw newbie batting lineup!!! Especially with Yuvi out of form! Link to comment
Gambit
And I'll will yet again say that this is a nonsensical strategy that cost us two world cup campaigns ('99 and '07). Link to comment
fineleg
Gambit, What abt when a good ball (or poor deczn or run out etc) getz him within 5 overs of innings start? The match becomes as good as nearly dead! What then? plus ur talking abt a time when YS was playing well, and other good batsmen were around. We have a raw team now. Link to comment
fineleg
atleast one more person votes for #4...who are you? pls. give me support by posting. Link to comment
bunny
I think Dhoni at #4 would be a very safe bet. And we can push RS up the order. So I don't think we need SRT in the middle order. (although I must say his record against great bowlers while opening isn't all that flattering). Link to comment
Deleted_User_1
tendu is slowly getting into bad form.......it always hsppens like that Link to comment

Cricketics
why shoudn't tendulkar open?? its not that any other opening pair is doing brilliantly well to replace him.. tendulkar batted as an opener most of his life.. had most success.. kinldy don't take away that from him.. thodi shaanti rakho and let this series be over.. one big one coming from Tendulkarz bat surely Link to comment
umpire
tendulkar should be dropped. Add third option.. Link to comment
Guest whineleg
Tendulkar should be forced to retire. Add fourth option. Link to comment

I am not saying SRT is batting poorly. But we need him to stabilize our newbie batting line up in the middle! Team needz this from him. Link to comment

Anakin
Personally I'd like to see SRT retiring from ODIs altogether. But as long as he plays, there is only one position he should bat, and that's the opening position. Agree with Gambo, it was the retarded decision to play him in the MO that was a big factor for WC fiascoes. Link to comment
cochise
India bat second: Sehwag, Gambhir to open, Tendulkar at first drop, Yuvraj at four. India bat first: Sehwag, Tendulkar, Gambhir at first drop and Yuvraj at four. Link to comment
