World record partnership Rahul Dravid’s career-best in one-day internationals came in a record 331-run partnership with Sachin Tendulkar for the second wicket. In the second ODI against New Zealand at Hyderabad in 1999, Dravid smacked a run-a-ball 153 that included 15 fours and two sixes. The 331-run stand is a record for any wicket in ODIs and beating another partnership that involved Dravid – the 318-run stand with Sourav Ganguly against Sri Lanka in the 1999 World Cup at Taunton. Two centuries in a Test match Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar (who’s done it three times) and Vijay Hazare are the only three Indians to score hundreds in each innings of a Test. Dravid’s feat came in third Test of India’s tour of New Zealand in 1999. Dravid scored 190 in the first innings as India responded with 416 to New Zealand’s 366. In the final innings, India needed 415 to win and Dravid marshalled the innings, stroking a 136-ball 103 with 16 fours. He repeated the feat against Pakistan at Kolkata in 2005 when his 110 and 135 set up India’s 195-run win. Highest run getter in the 1999 World Cup Dravid was the highest run-scorer in the 1999 World Cup with 461 runs at an average of 65.85 from eight innings, well clear of Steve Waugh who scored 398 runs. Dravid began the tournament with a half-century against South Africa and followed up with consecutive hundreds against Kenya and Sri Lanka. Another fifty followed against England and his 61 was the highest score in the match against Pakistan. Second highest opening partnership in Tests Dravid shared a colossal 410-run stand for the first wicket with Virender Sehwag against Pakistan at Lahore in 2006. Dravid remained unbeaten on 128 as they narrowly missed out on beating the highest opening partnership belonging to Vinoo Mankad and Pankaj Roy by four runs. Most double-hundreds by an Indian Dravid’s tally of five double-centuries is the highest by and Indian. Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar are in second place with four. Dravid scored his first against Zimbabwe at Delhi in Novemebr 2000 but his next four came on overseas tours in England, New Zealand, Australia and Pakistan. His last two double-centuries, 233 at Adelaide and 270 at Rawalpindi were famous match-winning knocks. Hundreds against and in all Test playing nations Dravid is the only cricketer to score hundreds against and in all other nine Test-playing countries. Gary Kirsten and Steve Waugh are the other batsmen to score centuries against all other Test nations. Dravid's golden phase began, arguably, in Kolkata 2001, with a supporting act, when he made 180 to supplement VVS Laxman's classic effort of 281 against Australia. But from then on, Dravid became India's most valuable player, saving them Tests at Port Elizabeth, Georgetown and Trent Bridge, winning them Tests at Headlingley, Adelaide, Kandy and Rawalpindi. At one point during this run, he carved up four centuries in successive innings, and hit four double-centuries in the space of 15 Tests, including in historic away-wins at Adelaide and Rawalpindi. As India finished off the 2004 Pakistan tour on a winning note, on the back of Dravid's epic 270, his average crept past Sachin Tendulkar's - and it seemed no aberration. More to come soon....

Who exactly hates him (atleast on ICF) ? That too when it comes to tests, we praise him (sometimes) more than SRT :D thanks for the records. RD is untouchable in Tests.

Rahul Dravid is one of the best and one of the most respected cricketers in the world. Just because some irritating pimple chooses to insult and try his best to humiliate dravid in his every alternate post on some message board doesn't make any difference. We should ignore such low lives like Rahul does. Thanks mhr...this is a gift for the lovers.:icflove:

still there are some pappu logz who hate Dravid.. ONe pappu is Harisampath.. chor
Dravid is completely useless in limited overs cricket, and he himself had stated he is not for T20, so why is he playing now, even taking 1 million bucks for his game in T20, blocking his team's chances, selecting old and useless players for his team, and in general scrwup his team bigtime ?? If this is not useless and selfish, then what is ??

some Rahul Dravid worshippers here always talk about their chweety etc and how he is a most respected , dignified cricketer, but fail to address points. 1. Is Dravid worth bidding for, in a T20 cup ? would ANY team have bid for him now ? 2. Why should he play T20, after announcing a few months back it is a game for youngsters ? Does he believe he is good enough to play T20, when he has been dropped from 50 overs itself 3. Why should he stick on to his "Icon status" and draw 1 million bucks? does he think he is worth 1 million bucks in T20 ( like Dhoni, Symonds etc), why could he not be like VVS and let go of status so that his team could bid for players ?

If the bangalore franchise would not have wanted him, they'd have requested BCCI to remove Dravid from the iconic status, just like Delhi and Hyderabad requested BCCI to include Sehwag and Laxman as icons. Vijay Mallya and his team are not stupid and I hope you understand that!

Who are you to decide what should Dravid play or what he shouldn't? He announced that the game was for youngsters at the international level where the whole nation was at stake in the WC. And yes, he thinks that he is good enough at any format at the club level and majority agree with him. What problem do you have?

Why should he not stick to it if the Bangalore franchise wanted it that way? And if any franchise is willing to pay him 1 million, obviously he is worth it! Can't you understand this simple fact? And why did he not act like VVS is completely none of anyone else's business. I suppose everyone knows that VVS and Rahul are different persons with different personalities and ideas. Did you confuse between them?

^ You are completely wrong on all counts. Icon status for Dravid was fixed even BEFORE Vijay Mallya got the Bangalore Franchise, it was the BCCI which stipulated that certain players will not be auctioned , and this was done more than 2 months back

LOL ... he was the best finisher India ever had !!! See how good Dhoni is playing now ... well Dravid was doing that for India most of his career. If Dhoni can keep up this form for the next 5 or 6 years, only then will he be regarded as our best ever finisher. I have seen Dravid get us out of trouble in ODIs time and time again, and has consistently been overlooked by ignorant fans who get attracted by flashy, explosive knocks (contrary to popular belief he could certainly up the scoring rate when he wanted). Check back over his career, and you'll see that he was an integral cog in the ODI team. I think history will show Dravid is probably the most unselfish cricketer in the games history. * India needed him to keep wickets in ODIs, so he kept wickets in ODIs * India needed him to open in ODIs, so he opened in ODIs * He was consistently India's finisher in ODIs despite the fact that he was never given a set position in ODIs, and constantly had to pick up the pieces of batting collapses. * He relinquished the captaincy, when his form dipped (which opened the option for him to be dropped, which he later was). * In Tests, India needed him to open the batting (to accomodate Yuvraj) and he did. How many other players in the game do you know would do all this? Dravid ... the most UNSELFISH player in the games history.
