Will IPL performances influence world cup selection anyway?

The squad of 17 is identified. Most if not all places in playing 11 are done and dusted. imo this IPL will not impact the squad of 17 which has been identified by now, unless there is an injury.

Gosh I hope not. IPL by itself shouldn't be a decider unless there's a black swan appearance of say Bumrah's caliber in any discipline. 

 

Would the converse hold true? Let's say Kohli doesn't score much; would any genius consider dropping him based on AiiiPeeeYellll

True. We made that cardinal mistake of judging PUjara based on his county performances. I was guilty as well. lol. Not playing him in the first test probably completely changed the course of the series.

Does home form really matter? We have enough players who are champions at home, but rubbish away. So IPL itself as a domestic competition falls in that category.

 

We need to select players with overseas success and experience.
