Gollum Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 (edited) Why do we have England's flag (Saint George's Cross) on it? Angrez chale gaye, aulaad chhod ke. No originality whatsoever... Even Pakistan, Bangladesh naval ensigns have removed the English symbol. Don't have much knowledge about military matters. If anyone has an explanation, I am all ears. Maybe there is a deeper explanation. Our air force and army flags are so much better. IAF Indian Army Check out these videos: Edited May 28, 2019 by Gollum Real McCoy 1

Gollum Posted May 28, 2019 Author Posted May 28, 2019 (edited) It is not like we lacked naval presence in our past. Why not incorporate the Cholan symbol in the flag, after all Cholas were an eminent naval power during their time. Maybe modify and use it instead of the English symbol. Just a flag I know but why should we be reminded of the colonial rule? Edited May 28, 2019 by Gollum velu 1

Navy removed that citing the reason it was hard to spot with blue skies and blue seas. I feel that is a lame excuse, they can very well keep the symbol and go for a different colour combo that is easy to spot in their operating conditions. Why they chose to revert back to St George's Cross baffles me. Edited May 28, 2019 by Gollum

How did they figure the cross makes it more identifiable They could have changed the color of the national emblem and the anchor to red Gollum 1
