Franco Vazquez Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 SA and Pak both opened the bowling with a leg spinner and tbh they were quite successful as well in getting early wicket so maybe India should try the same and also Australia by starting with Zampa?
Nikola Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 No need. Bhubi can spin his knuckle balls from mars to pluto. saik and Norman 2
Pandya_Power Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 If IND were to employ this tactic, I feel it has to be Chahal and not Kuldeep. Seems very likely given Roy's suseptibility against leg breaks. Even in the ODI series against India last year, the openers got off to a flier (mind you w/o Bumrah) till about the 10th over when Kuldeep came in and struck straight away.
Haarkarjeetgaye Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Lol. Jason Roy will ensure he never opens again. Only Ashwin can open with new ball. Not Kul Cha Jad

Not Kul Cha Jad Why not? Chahal has bowled in the powerplay before. It would be worth the gamble for 2 overs. Edit: The thing is by the time we paly England, Roy might come up with a strategy of playing out these overs safely before launching himslf later. The surprise element may no longer be there. He does not have the guile for flat darters and variations which are required for opening. He is a classic leg spinner. Look at the names that open. Maxwell, Moeen, Ashwin, Imad, Mehidy, it requires variation in pace, trajectory and bounce.

I think his chances of success would be greater. The bowlers you mentioned happen to be successful despite being darters. I put it down to openers being shitty players of spin. I think there is a good chance that TM will try something like this. So it give us an idea. I'm hoping byt he time out match with England comes around, we'd have qulified already.

Sehwag like or even Rohit Sharma May be a better option. Classics rarely open in ODIs. Warne, Murali Pandya_Power 1
