Aussie thrid umpire Bruce Oxenford was a disgrace

Recommended Posts

How disgraceful was this third umpire, he was referred to by Simon Taufel to check if the catch taken by Dhoni of Hussey was clean and he was checking for edge and they even showed snicko meter for the replays, he was looking for reason to give him not out but couldnt. He took full five minutes to give the decision and every commentators were puzzled by why he was taking so long the catch was clean. This is what happened in Sydney too when Symonds was stumped and this guy was the third umpire there too and if you listen to every commentators then also they were saying Symonds was stumped and was out but this guy didnt give that Symonds out he was 45 odd at that time and he made 160 and that cost india series win. This guy was the reason why India lost Test series and Aussie who should have lost that series also should be ashamed to keep a third umpire like this.

Yes. Even the channel nine commentators were nonplussed as to why he took so long. But, benefit of the doubt. He may have not been getting the images at the same time as we were. I think only the catch was refered too...not snicko. Sydney stumping was very suspicious though...

There is no chance in hell he was just checking for clean catch it was clean catch on first replay, he was checking for snicko channel nine feed is what he gets and they show snicko also for that catch, he cost india the Test series, Aussie umpiring was so home team biased it was next to pakistan in supporting home team in 70s and 80s,Remember gavaskar's walkout.

And of course, Tendulkars head/shoulder before wicket to McGrath...mistakes and bias happen everywhere though...however, the aussies have never taken notice of it happening in their own backyard...nor cared to entertain or admit to their own biased decisions...selective blindness... Yet, Simon Taufel was good.

see third umpire making mistake and field umpire making mistake are very different , on field umpire has only one shot and that also live, but third umpire has no such excuse unless he wants to be biased.

I was shocked by this. The tv umpire seemed to be looking for an excuse not to give him out

I dont see the point in this wasted thread.. The 3rd ump was doing his job with out conclusive proof u cant give a batsman out , or overrule an onfield decision.. Taking time for decision is not a bad thing and may be he did not get his footage in time ..u never know what happened

It was a telling moment on the final day of this horror tour for the australians. He was trying so hard to find some way out, but could not. Harsha Bhogle had absolute disbelief in his voice at the stupidity of this man even considering a way to push the green button.

Third umpire and Snickometer The match descended into controversy when a claim for caught behind off Michael Hussey was referred to third umpire Bruce Oxenford, who checked replays for an edge as well as to see whether Mahendra Dhoni had caught it. Channel Nine's Snickometer — which is not conclusive and cannot be used by umpires — indicated there was a nick and Oxenford ruled Hussey out for 44. It was unclear whether Oxenford had seen the Snicko graphic shown on television as the decision was pending. I saw this on channel 9 and couldn’t believe it. The umpires are not supposed to check whether the batsman edged it … and snicko is not even approved by the ICC. Wonder why the umpires waited for sincko before giving hussesy out :omg:

Yes, the Third Umpire is reported to have checked for "edge", since the catch was very clear. No doubts on TV abt the catch. But 3rd ump took long, long time. Had he given not out, MSD shud have walked out, which is what AK shud have done at Sydney.

Cut-paste of what i posted in the other thread Oxenford is a third (rate) umpire. The same guy who shamelessly ruled Symmo not out when his foot was in the air at Sydney. His delay of the Hussey decision was bizarre. Hussey's nick was clear as daylight (audible sound + no pad or other contact to mislead + ball hits the bottom edge & deviates from its normal path). Dont know what on earth he was looking for that long ? The moron was taking long & hard to cling on to something as evidence to bail the Aussies out. Fortunately for India, there was no ambiguity. The same moron denied us a boundary, when Johnson (?) stopped the ball inches off the boundary line, while still in contact with the ball. The guy is either incredibly biased or highly incompetent. In any case, deserves to be kicked out.
