fineleg
http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/indvrsa/content/current/story/342824.html No need for fitness test says BCCI - Harbhajan Singh will be "available" for selection The Indian board will inform the national selectors that Harbhajan Singh is fit and should be considered for selection, although he has not been to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to get his fitness assessed. Harbhajan's team-mate Yuvraj Singh reached the NCA in Bangalore on Monday morning to attend a fitness test hours before the national selectors were scheduled to meet and finalise the 15 for the first two Tests against South Africa. The three-test series starts in Chennai on March 26. "Harbhajan has informed the board that he is fit, and it was obvious to us during the Australia tour that he is not injured. Like Sachin Tendulkar who has informed us that he is fit, Harbhajan doesn't have to get a clearance from the NCA," a senior BCCI official told Cricinfo. Harbhajan's fitness was assessed by India physio John Gloster after the Australia tour and he was diagnosed as having a hamstring injury. Later, Gloster said in his report to the BCCI that Harbhajan needed rest, prompting speculation that he may miss the South Africa series. The national selectors, headed by Dilip Vengsarkar, had wanted all India candidates to clear the NCA's fitness test, as per the new BCCI norms, before considering them for selection. It remains to be seen whether they will take the Board's word on Harbhajan Singh. No Need for fitness test!!! http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/indvrsa/content/current/story/342824.html How was it "obvious during Aus tour" :omg: Link to comment
King Tendulkar
You could see from his celebrations after we won that he was fit. It was obvious:D Link to comment
Willow_on_fire
It is called Indian cricket 'politics'...:haha:....but just not sure why BCCI is pushing Bhajji into selection list. Link to comment
DomainK
South Africans have a known weakness against spinners. Day4 and day5 on Indian pitches will belong to the spinner. A believe Kumble and Bhajji will rule this series. The pacers who got such great success in Australia have a tough time coming. Link to comment

suraj
Harbhajan, Yuvraj irk selectors Harbhajan, Yuvraj irk selectors TNN / Chandresh Narayanan PrintSaveWrite to EditorMail MUMBAI, March 16: Injured stars Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh have angered national selectors by deciding against going in for their fitness tests at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. The Punjab duo had been asked by the BCCI to prove their fitness on Sunday following a report by outgoing physio John Gloster that the two needed a minimum of two-three weeks of rest from active cricket. Apart from Harbhajan and Yuvraj, speedster Ishant had also been asked to prove his fitness, which he duly did on Sunday. But Harbhajan (left hamstring) and Yuvraj (left knee) spoke to senior BCCI officials on Saturday night and claimed they were fit to take the field when the series against South Africa begins on March 26. The players felt they had been informed about the test at a short notice and therefore could not make it to Bangalore in time. Interestingly, Sachin Tendulkar had also been placed in the 'injured' category by Gloster, but was not called for any fitness test before the selection committee meeting on Monday for the first two Tests. According to sources, Yuvraj and Harbhajan have clearly irked the establishment and the selectors are not taking the 'defiance' kindly. "This is clearly setting a bad precedent and the board needs to take a strong view. "If Gloster says they are unfit, we need a certificate from the NCA physio to know their current status. After all, that is the rule we had set," said a top source, adding: "When the likes of Ganguly, Dravid, Kumble and Laxman can undergo compulsory fitness tests, why not these two? The Test stars are bigger players but they made no noise about undergoing the tests." According to sources, Yuvraj is now taking the first available flight out of Delhi on Monday to take the test. Harbhajan too might make it to the NCA on Monday. http://publication.samachar.com/pub_article.php?id=1525900&navname=General%20&moreurl=http://publication.samachar.com/samachartop25/general/samachartop25.php&homeurl=http://www.samachar.com This is very confusing- I thought they were already selected Link to comment

Sachinism
BCCI should make sure they dont play in the next match they arent good enough (or in good enough form) to be playing in the test side anyway Link to comment
msb1991
Harbhajan Singh's condition is being monitered. They know he has a knee injury and due to the nature of such, he will fail any running tests, for now, but they feel that his progress will have him fit for the first Test. What is so crazy about that? Link to comment
