Lack of competition has been an issue in all formats of cricket in 80% of the years I have watched or read about.

 

Nothing new there.

South Africa are just going through a transition because of their transformational targets. They still have a lot of talent and are in a better place IMO than the likes of windies, sl, Bangladeshs and pak.
