Who is established in 5 games ???

Without playing how does someone get established .

Dravid, ganguly, mayank, rahul all were thrown in deep end, u cant keep them in comfort whole life. In india nyways u play 2 pacer by that logic he ll never play.

Umesh is an established failure outside india atleast thats proven. With umesh u knw he ll screw up but saini is unknwn ...always better to try something new then a proven failure. Today again he has leaked runs with new ball.

What magic spell u expect in LOI format where its already hard for bowler.

why is umesh so much better in india than abroad though? logic dictates that he should at worst maintain his average in more helpful conditions.

Saini is an attacking bowler. You have to watch domestic cricket to see that and not just IPL. Red ball cricket is his main format. He had hardly played much t20 and one day even fir Delhi. LOIs were his weaker formats.

Last year  Ranji season

 2 matches 128 average 302 strike rate

Has he topped any season in bowling?

Makes sense.

I do want to add that practice games are test match results can usually be totally different. Spinners will take wickets. both of them average a lot of wickets per match and have experience.

You need to have over spin to do well in these parts. No business of undercutting.  A wristy would have been a better choice. High time they start developing a proper leggie for Tests.

If they want some spinner to plug one end without wicket go with Jaddu. If you think pitch might offer something go with Ashwin. Don't have high hopes from either of them.

Ashwin is hopeless beyond belief when he steps out of India. Even at home he needs turners to pick up wickets. India should definitely field Jadeja at number 8. Increases batting depth.  In NZ,  3 seamers and a spinner who can support and turn it on days 4 and 5 are enough to get 20 wickets. Batting depth is vital as its very much possible for top order to collapse frequently in these conditions. That's why india should field game changers in vihari, pant,  jadeja at 6,7,8. However,  Wagner can dismantle all 3 of them within no time...

Here we go guys. Agarwal has one last chance to get this right on this tour.

Agarwal will start in the first test. No way is the tm dropping a guy who scored 2 doubles in his last 3 matches. They'll be stupid to do so but stupid is what they are. You could be right.

They will play him. But to feel mentally good about himself he must make it count. No better opportunity than this. Post tea session where pitch is not that threatening.
