Here is a fleeting thought:

The last round games, ie the 14th game for each of the sides should be played simultaneously.

Yes, all 4 games of the last round *MUST* be played togther.

Take for instance

KKR vs RR which took place on the 1st of Nov and KKR won. They had no idea how quickly they had to win/ how big their margin of victory need be etc. They just went for a win, like how any other team would. That put KKR on 14 points.

The next day, ie 2nd of November DC played RCB and won. Thing is, that in this game, after their innings when bowling RCB knew exactly that they have to drag the game till the 17.2nd over to qualify on run rate in-spite of losing.  The very fact that they have this 'knowledge'  is an unfair advantage that RCB has solely because of scheduling.

RCB and DC were beneficiaries here. KKR and RR lost out.

If the games were played simultaneously, one could argue that RCB wouldn't know what to do. And would try to go for the kill and get DC all out. Of course they could lose sooner in the process thereby hurting their qualification chances. But at least they wouldn't be trying to 'artificially' stave off a few overs to get to over  #17.

All the tournaments in all the sports are like this only :hmmmm2:

maybe we can remove NRR and do something like  super over between the tied teams  or qualify  based on H2H :dontknow:
