So you compare by their last performance instead of looking at their overall record. Next match if Smith gets out for a duck, you'll say he's useless and should be dropped.

Umesh and Ishant both are doing well in Tests. They were trash under Dhoni.

Dhoni likes trundlers. You only need to see the kind of pacers that CSK has played in their team over the years to know that.

Moreover he likes bowlers who can bowl to his field and look to contain instead of going aggressive and looking to take wickets.

Get ur facts right 

Umesh doing well only in india which he dud even under dhoni. Dhoni statment against him came after bangaldesh odi series and he still has no place in odi even under kohli.

 

Ishant problem was not captaincy but wrist position which was fixed by gillespie i county

It was also Dhoni's defensive captaincy which made Ishant regress as a bowler. He spoonfed them and then complained that they needed to be spoonfed.

This is the same management that backed past his prime Yuvraj, Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik, Shardul Thakur etc. The Indian selectors and management aren't some gods that get it right 100% of the time that it is a privilege for your opinions to match with theirs.

Umesh's performances in Tests in India under Kohli is better than his performances in Tests in India under Dhoni.

Things went bad for him after IPL 2009. He was fine in that IPL but from WI tour and then T20WC, his action looked a bit changed. He was trying to bowl like an outswinger.
