Can we Fast track Abdul Samad In T20Is? As we need a lower order hitter who can Bowl

Guys like him are rare breed in Indian cricket.  Instead of Going back to Shankar we can groom him.  If he does well in T20s then he can be tried in ODIs as well in upcoming Sri lanka,  Zim tours.

Calling Abdul Samad an "all-rounder" is stretching it. In 8 T20 innings, he has 2 wickets at an average of 75 and an economy of 10.71. He's about as useful a bowler as Rohit Sharma, Kohli or Shreyas Iyer.

Won't work now in any format. Once Pandya starts bowling to his full level, then we can pick between Samad and Tewatia for no.7 position.

 

But right now, we need a proper 5th bowling option who can bat at 7 and unfortunately the best we have is Ravindra Jadeja in ODIs and Washington Sundar/Krunal Pandya in T20s.

 

EvenVijay Shankar is not good for 10 overs bowling and he is anyways injury prone.

 

Alongside that, we need to prepare Shreyas Iyer for part-time leg spin bowling option for the current time.

When a team plays only 5 bowlers they have to be the best 5 bowlers in the country not someone like Samad. Boys like Gowtham , Samad and other part timers cannot be part of 5 bowlers attack.

Doubt he is a bowling option. Want to see Shreyas Gopal given a run, he isn't a hack with the bat....don't go by IPL numbers.

why not back tewatia? he is better bowler than samad and better slogger than shreyas gopal.

tewatia is a good option shud be tried but he can only replace jaddu , axar batting is just a bit upgrade on jaddu which jaddu levels with his fielding

samad at this point is just 2-4 over bowler that to if used smartly , using part timer was dhoni's strength not kohli's

I dnt look into numbers but gopal not on current form, he bowled flat this IPL not his strength.....have followed him for long he is someone who isnt afraid to toss it up and thats where his variation n height makes add to the skill.

Currently chahal can only be replaced by rahul chahar

Samad is very very raw. He needs to be developed with special attention because he can hit genuine pace for big 6s.

 

But he needs to play another IPL and whatever domestic matches that would be played in the next few months.

 

Fast track his development ... but don't fast track him in Team India just now.

His bowling is unpolished for now. Batting wise he is good enough for A team, will have to prove himself there over the likes of Dubey, Pandya

2 diff kind of players shudnt compete against each other

 

Samad power hitter who can chip in overs 

Tewatia can bowl full quota and bat as well, tewtia shud compete with jaddu, axar, krunal, sundar

Axar Patel has developed this six hitting ability and has also bulked up a little. His bowling is frugal too. Not sure about Tewatia yet.

He's had a successful IPL season before. What has Abdul Samad done except hit a few sixes and then share that on Instagram?
